As hilarious as this contract is (which it 100% is), this is disgusting. Straight up dirt nasty disgusting. I feel filthy for having read it. All parties involved should be ashamed of the end result.
Nurse is a good D. But making more than the Art Ross/Hart/Lindsay winner in Draisatl?
Even Nurse must be shaking his head as the fleecing that has gone down. At first I thought the +9 mil number in the recent rumor was a PR move to sign for lower and they could claim it as a 'win'. But no ladies and gents, it wasn't. It was real

Hard to believe the player and the agent are both that dumb.

If you're Nurse and his agent, if you get offered $74M over 8 years I don't think you waste too much time haggling over the payment structure.

Most people don't look at it this way but you're right if you mean that Nurse should want a fair contract and not fleece the other party - it should be fair and balanced on both sides because it's better for everyone. Nurse must now live up to his 9.25 million valuation, and if he doesn't, that's not good for either party. A bad contract just poisons both parties and could hurt his next contract, buyouts aren't good, and not living up to your contract isn't either, look at Neal, things would be different if he made 3 or 4 million. Realistic expectations are best.

Best quote I read was
"I think Holland must have mistaken a 9 for a 6" - DAkings20
and
"A Nurse getting paid a Doctors salary" - Macch

Nurse pretty much dominated last year. One more year like that and the contract is good. Not sure which Nurse everyone here was watching but he,'s definately a star.

Why just one more year?
In order for the contract to be even remotely good he has to do it 8 more times, and even then he was very bad defensively.

Did you watch him at all when he was in his own end?

I mean he needs another year to prove it wasn't a one off. To me anyway. He does it again and I will believe. He's what Phaneuf should've been

So if he has one more good year and then 8 garbage years (the extension doesn't kick in until next year) then that justifies over 9 million per year? I don't follow this at all.

Lol okay. Another good year is just more proof, removes the doubt. I think a big 15-20 goal 50-60 point dman who skates well is worth a lot. Maybe I'm crazy.

Year 1 is 10% escrow, the following 3 years 6%. The far more important things for Nurse are the buyout protection signing bonuses in the back half of the deal.

That extra $3M a year can buy him a lot of earplugs.

I'd be kinda pissed if I was Barrie. He had even more points, and is even worse defensively. Doesn't that mean 10+ mill?

If he was elite defensively he would be paid even more. He brings a ton to the table even with average d skills. Just my opinion

he is the 3rd highest paid defenseman - he is already being paid like he is elite defensively
