Maybe the problem in the league is that all the teams know that Gaudreau wants to go to Philadelphia and Tkachuk wants to go to St Louis so nobody is will to pay market for them when they will be gone in one and two years respectively.

Even for some of the pieces we might like off those teams, we would be making the deal going into a rebuild, which is the opposite direction Flames management appears interested in going. I can't picture a trade with any of those teams that would replace Jonny with active roster talent equivalent plus prospect pieces that would fit either the Flames plans, or would be fair enough that the other team would be interested.

The twitter verification process is pretty haphazard. I've seen them verify fake accounts and then pull the verification later.

Gaudreau doesn't want to go to Philadelphia, he wants to stay here. Why are people still beating this dead horse? Like do you get a bonus from Eric Francis everytime you say it?

And that wasn't my point of the post. My point was there are assets Minny has to make a Johnny trade happen. I didn't come up with the Minnesota is interested aspect of the conversation either.

At any rate. A conceivable notion would be Gaudreau for Kaprizov pending a new deal struck between CGY and Kaprizov. So maybe an angle there.

For the Flames maybe. No way Minnesota trades Kaprizov for Gaudreau.

It's not really conceivable that Minny will give up any assets for an unsigned Johnny, as they aren't contending, likely more rebuilding.

Probably could a boatload of futures from someone for him rather than an older and similar player that also won't sign with them.

We really have no idea what Johnny wants to do. I believe he would stay, but only if he gets a contract he really likes. But he could also decide to reach UFA ans assess his options then.

If he wanted to stay at all costs, I assume a deal would have been done by now.

But we don't really know what's going on behind the scenes.

Totally fair to continue beating the horse as long as free agency for Gaudreau gets closer and closer. Until he re-signs with the Flames he's not locked up past the upcoming season.
