A SAUDI woman who was kidnapped at knifepoint, gang-raped and then beaten by her brother was sentenced to 90 lashes - for a meeting a man who was not a relative, a newspaper reported.

Yes it is. However if there was political turmoil or unrest in Saud like there is in other regimes like that, we would never see 1$ barrel of oil ever again. Alberta would be raking it in but cheap gas would be no more.

I don't care what anyone says, that is a disgusting and savage culture out there. Scary thing is, its motivated by religion, which typically is supposed to be of a peaceful nature.

Sure people argue that the US is too, but the mode of christianity driving the US is not a savage and violent one... if anything, its just ignorant and arrogant, though it, like our values, defends the rights of people to freedom, security, liberty, equality and brotherhood.

Once an alternate energy source is found, or Saudi runs out of Oil, you can guarantee the Americans will turn their back on that part of the world so fast, your head will spin.

Religion in the strictest sense if Islam is anything like Christianity.

In the ME Islam is used for enforcement. In NA secular laws are used - there is a relgious basis but that is what the courts and Charter Rights are for.
