Any event Canadians are competitive in works for me.
My heart was pounding when women won gold in rowing eights. Rowing for heavens sakes! Watching De Grasse is always exciting and women's Canada soccer win over the USA was great to watch even on the replay. Can't wait for the final against Sweden.

 Favorite events are:

1). Beach Volleyball - Enjoyable to watch and Canada has done well.

2). Decathalon - Always my favourite track event since you have to be so well rounded.

3). Surfing - Cool to see it in the Olympics after watching the world tour for years. I could watch surfing all day even if it is one of the most boring sports to watch minus the 1-2 minutes of highlights per heat. Should be a great event with better surf in France 2024 and LA in 2028.

Solid call.

That being said, isn't time the females competed in a Decathlon?

I found this article to be quite an interesting perspective on that question
https://www.nytimes.com/2021/07/06/s...eptathlon.html
Heptathletes are considered primarily speed-oriented and decathletes more endurance-oriented, which is why athletes like Gray are unlikely to match their decathlon success and qualify for the Olympics in the heptathlon.
“Heptathlon is very geared and favorable to those who are quick,” said Gray’s coach, Andy Eggerth, who trains both heptathletes and decathletes. “A lot of world-class heptathletes are relatively bad at javelin and shot-put.”
“Heptathletes are sprinters and jumpers,” Gray added. “As a decathlete, where you’re not fast, you need that upper-body strength. Strength is the biggest difference. I hate the 800. You have to be more of a racehorse to do the 800. I think the 1,500 is easier. It’s slower, more of a mental game. It’s a well-known fact that we decathlon women are better at endurance.”
while I think in general there are arguments to be made for this , the current crop of athletes also recognize that they may not be the ones who benefit as skills required would pivot slightly and surely they won't allow both

I guess my questions was why can't there be a female Decathlon in the Olympics?

Run a both a Heptathlon and Decathlon for both men and women.

totally understood your question, I'm just not sure they would opt for adding the 2 extra events so I imagine they would just go decathlon x2

Which to me is fine, or drop Dressage and Pistol shooting to clear up space.

I prefer the 200m to the 100m. The 100 is over before you know it, and feels like half a race. The 200 gives them a chance to really sort out who's who while still being in all out sprint mode.

Beach volleyball. Prefer it to the original form of vollleyball since more finesse and movement.

I liked watching the lead climbing and the bouldering was ok. The speed climbing just seems hokey to me.

Favourites are track events and shorter swimming races. Beach volleyball is pretty intense too.

I typically like events that are timed decided by score over judged.

Summer: Rowing. Swimming. Track events. Beach Volleyball. Indoor cycling. Any event where a Canadian is in contention.
Winter: Ice hockey (obviously). Speed skating. Ski racing. Aerials. Moguls. Figure skating. Bobsled.

Im sure I am missing some! I just love the olympics. It has been a bit challenging this year with the time zone being almost completely opposite.

Should have said decided by score (points as in goals, baskets, etc)

I find the indoor game a lot more entertaining. Rallies are much longer then beach volleyball. It's too easy to find the empty court in beach volleyball. Higher caliber of players in the indoor game as well. I always thought the beach version would be better with 3 players per side, but I haven't seen that done so I could be totally wrong.

Speed was fun but the bouldering and lead blew me away. I especially like when the bouldering gets going with 4 climbers at once.
