All I can get

Eichel stays a Sabre until after his surgery, after his rehab, and a period of play.
It's more likely the player and team come to some accommodation in the meantime.

5% seems high.

I'll say this ... if they do make a move that costs futures, at least I'm a lot more comfortable with building around the player with the recent success this team has had in the draft past the first round.
Obviously it will hurt the pipeline to have a first and a top prospect exit, but hopefully they find a diamond in the rough or two in the next two drafts to lessen the impact.

Dube is an inferior winger to Mangiapane.
He might be more valuable than Mangiapane as a center, but we'll never know that.
Dropping our best goalscorer the last two years and pinning our hopes to replace him on a guy the coach called, to some extend or another, "middling" is crazy.

I can't see Adams letting training camp start with this big storm cloud over his teams head. It'd be like playing for the Oilers and having to field McDingus questions from Principe all the time.
Every evening and every morning:
"Can you comment on Jack? Have you seen him lately? What's he been saying? Jack Eichel Jack Eichel Jack Eichel. Jack Eichel Jack Eichel? Jack Eichel Jack Eichel Jack Eichel!"
Ian Mendes on TheAthletic podcast was just comparing the Eichel situation to Lindros and Philly and we all know what happened. Just another kick in the nuts to Buffalo really.

One factor that might be complicating the trade process for Adams is the hands-on style of Sabres ownership, specifically a condition of Terry Pegula’s that Eichel is traded to a Western Conference team.
...The Athletic’s Rick Carpiniello was the first to report on this condition, with Sabres reporter John Vogl confirming it.

It makes sense though, why trade a franchise player to a divisional rival?
It'd be like Edmonton trading McDavid following his broken leg to us or Vancouver.
So us and Anaheim are the 2 Western teams rumoured to be in the mix I believe. Anaheim is apparently unwilling to part with Zegras or Drysdale, so I don't think they have the futures to make it work.

Anaheim makes no sense for Eichel either they look to be bottoming out still so I can’t see them moving futures for Eichel it makes no sense. It is like they are showing a lot of interest to keep him out of LA?
It makes sense to move a player to a different conference or ask for a premium from teams in the East vs a team in the west.
If the Pegula’s are spiteful then sending him to the Flames easily makes the most sense. Send him to western Canada in a small cold city and thrust him right into a provincial rivalry that includes the player who Eichel is constantly being compared to for 6-7 years.
Sending him to Vegas to play on that team, or California to live the dream would not seem like the moves the Pegula’s would want to make

I'm not adverse to dealing the 1sts, so long as Treliving stops dealing other picks all together, and then focus on recouping a ton of 2nds. I can live without the 1st so long as we have multiple 2nds. That keeps the system stocked with support level talent.

Agreed.
Quantity in the first three rounds overall. Love the addition of two 3rds at the last draft, and an addition of a 6th for moving down a few spots at this draft.
Analysts are suggesting the group is making solid value picks, so get them more picks for sure.

It's even better if you fill out the end part completely. DET ended up re-signing Gagner, so you can even say he was a little bit more than a throw-in.

I agree, but I think they are right on the verge of hitting the gas pedal to take advantage of Gibson's prime. One more bad season makes sense as they can extract value from pending UFAs Lindholm/Manson/Rakell/ Getzlaf and then go big in 2022 UFA.
Trading for Eichel doesn't necessarily preclude that idea, but it seems an unnecessary risk at this point for them.

This is why I like the idea of multiple heavily protected 1sts (potentially deferring or dropping to 2nd) over a single unprotected 1st...Tre needs to handcuff himself from trading away those picks.

The idea isn't even insane though.
That's actually a poor reason to squash the excitedness of people in this thread.
Flames are literally one of a small handful in the running. And their interest has been confirmed a multitude of times, as far back as april/may.
You must be someone who is just used to not getting nice things. We don't need that kind of negativity in here!
I'll accept your apology in the trade thread.

I always get a kick out of this, Calgary is the 8th largest NHL city and if you ever lived thru a winter in a sea level city you wouldn't call it cold, Toronto, Montreal, Boston, Chicago, Minnesota, Detroit, Buffalo, Pittsburgh, Columbus, Winnipeg, Ottawa and Edmonton are no picnic. Vancouver and San Jose can also be very depressing with lack of sunshine.

I get a kick out of people looking at city populations and not looking at metropolitan centers. Calgary is 5-6th smallest market in the league. They were discussing it on the FAN earlier last week

That might actually happen. Seems like a lot of teams have decided the risk outweighs the potential benefit.

Why does population even matter?
Is this supposed to be a desirable trait in a destination?
