Man, it would be nice to have an explosive natural RW, even if there is a risk that his shoulder doesn't hold up for the whole two year contract. He says he is ready to go. The price has hit rock bottom. Cap hit to Calgary would be an additional 2.5 million. worth it for the upgrade.
Given that looch called big Z to welcome him to flames and he has the nmc, don’t think he’s on the move anytime soon. Give you an a for creativity though.

Now if tarasenko will waive for us and they want to move another injury prone player for another, would Monahan for Tarasenko work, if Tarasenko will come here? They could move schenn to wing and mony could be second line c. But makes us awfully thin at C.

still think the next move will be for a d. With Murray off the market, maybe plan shifts to plan b or c.

In the 31 thoughts podcast Friedman mentioned that a team interested in him still may have concerns about his shoulder. I can't recall which team (not Calgary).

I don’t understand why the flames would consider taking on the risk and the salary.

Probably for the potential reward of a big, strong, talented natural RW that could be exactly what this team has been looking for since Iginla.

I could be wrong but I'm pretty sure the Blues are willing to retain 2.5mil of Tarasenko's salary.

Not that it matters but this has been brought up before, How would this make them brother in laws? My understanding is Sean's only brother in law would be his sister Jacqueline's husband

Sounds like the Flames could become a depository for high salary broken superstars.

Sound like a good strategy when you say it out loud.

You know, people forget this, but there was a period when Sid was 23-24 where he missed nearly a full year with a misdiagnosed neck injury that everyone thought was a concussion.

Trading for Sid with a clear overpayment when it wasn’t clear if he’d ever play or be the same again.

Would’ve been the right move.

From the GM’s perspective, if it doesn’t work, he was getting fired anyway, and if it does, he’s got another few years of security.

No reason from Brad’s perspective not to do it.

From Murray’s point of view, this type of player at the top of your roster can win you rounds in the playoffs, sells jerseys, and brings positive media attention to your team.

No reason for him to not do it either.

And you know, Never mind a championship - I’m not so greedy as to expect that.

But trips to the 2nd round, 3rd round once every ten years or so, that’s not too much to ask.

Just be good enough that you’re not the obvious loser in every first round series you engage in, even when you’re the higher seed.

Any player could get injured at any time...or just totally lose their game and suck at hockey. Do some of you keep all your money in the bank for that sweet .09% interest?

Apparently Kessel has asked for a trade.

If retained he could be a very solid piece to add to our top 6.

If ever the price is not too crazy I hope Tree checks in.

We should get E. Karlsson too. He still has one good ankle!

No. How long do you think Flabby Phil can defy not being in shape and playing at a high level?

Kessel is a complete liability, hope Tre stays away from that

24 year old star center with no surgeries to his name yet.

30 year old winger with 3 shoulder surgeries over the past 2 years.

I know which one I’d gamble on

Ignoring the fact that you know the 24 year old will require major surgery.

OK...now do acquisition cost and who will be available from day 1, and then add in 50M vs 15M.
