All the trades literally go to a fax machine at the league office, or at least they did.

Weird thing is, my office has a fax number but the faxes just come more or less like an email that we print. So it ain’t hard.

but it would be hilarious if while waiting for the deal to be re-structured, Grubauer signed somewhere else

Doctors on call still use pagers I think.

Has to do with the reliability perception.

A lot of financial institutions require certain forms faxed. You can’t really tamper with a fax the same way you potentially can with an email or other file transfer methods.

I thought the queue was the trade call, and you have until the deadline to get into queue. I think it was the canucks that did a behind the scenes thing on it. Essentially nhl confirms with both parties the details of the trade and ensures any additional waivers or documents that are needed are there (I.e. ntc waiver).

Print, what does that mean? I kid, we used to have this too. You print something, send it like a fax, receive it like an email and print it again. Haven’t seen it done in years.

Considering these NHL deals are never consummated in person it’s pretty weird if they continued to send faxes.

My early impression of the Kraken is they’re trending to be the Mariners of the NHL.

 #### em. Shoulda named themselves the Sockeyes.

I think being the S.S. in Seattle could cause political issues! |

I believe there is a 5 days window after a trade is rejected for teams to file a grievance. Not that Seattle is going to do that, since the rules were pretty clearly laid out. But this does afford the Kraken 5 days to restructure the contract and for the two parties to come to an agreement before Grubauer reverts back to a UFA.

But it wasn't a trade.

I wouldn't be surprised if this sort of thing happens occasionally, this is just the first time it's been made public.

They had the SuperSonics, I’m sure it would have been fine.

A salmon with a black eye wearing a hockey helmet missing a tooth would’ve been a great logo.
