^ I have not seen the equivalent to four first round picks being the ask. I’ve seen four future pieces as the rumoured ask, but not four firsts.
Fair enough. But when people are suggesting offers like Monahan + Dube + Valimaki + Zary + two firsts, that's clearly more than the equivalent of four firsts and much more than just ‘four future pieces’.

No offers to Buffalo have been near the realm of 4 first rounders.
You're looking at perhaps two first round quality assets, a money dump and a secondary prospect.
Maybe even less than that when all is said and done, as the price appears to be falling by the day.
A good business person running a club that they're trying to bring to success simply does not turn their cheek to this opportunity with Buffalo more or less cornered by Eichel's camp.
It's much more than just a "tunnel vision" thing.
If you can't see both sides of it, then perhaps you're stuck in your own tunnel of opposition.

See above. The offers suggested by CPers have been considerably more than that – unless you believe that any player touched by the Flames' organization is automatically tainted and worth nothing. Granted, we do have a few posters who hold that belief ferociously.

They meet a lot of the criteria and can put in a competitive offer at the juncture they're at.
If you're going to be a holier than thou wet blanket at least back it up with some solid reasoning.
Because being a Debbie downer sports fan is several order of magnitudes simpler than being an optimist. It’s simple math. If you predict doom and gloom, more often than not you’ll be correct. Way, way more often. Even if you cheer for a damn good team.
But hoping for the best? It’s destined for failure 9 times in 10. It’s why I’m convinced that sports actually appeals to self hating masochists so frequently, as evidenced by CP.

Noting that a lot of what happens between the Rangers and Eichel will depend on what happens between the Rangers and Mika Zibanejad first, Larry Brooks of the NY Post writes that a source said a recent Rangers offer didn’t include Filip Chytil but did include Vitali Kravtsov, Zach Jones, Alexandar Georgiev and a first-round draft pick.
I don’t doubt that Buffalo would prefer to ship Eichel out west but if the best offer is from a team in the Eastern conference team not in their division management would be silly no to at least entertain it. Or at the very least try and leverage that offer to a destination more to their liking.

A reason I think it could make sense for BUF to wait things out a bit is to let the 2022 UFA market cooldown with some guys getting extensions:
Barkov
Couturier
Zibanejad
Hertl
Malkin
Bergeron
Giroux
Kadri
Trocheck
Strome
Tierney
As always, most of these guys will re-sign. But if I'm an up and coming team like LAK, ANA, NYR, or NJD I'm letting my sauce marinate and positioning to target a big-fish to kick my window open.

Less than zero; the ubiquitous "negative value" is a prerequisite for mediocrity.
Curious, did anyone watch enough Sabres to hockey to have an informed opinion on Skinner? I know the numbers were rotten, but is there any insight at all?

That’s a quarter of a team for one guy.

Sure, but this is all just talk; fan talk, agent talk, GM talk. All talk. I'm not worried about an overpay by Treliving. The Flames are a conservative organization in a conservative league.
If anything I expect the Flames to miss out through caution before they overpay.

As they should. But Treliving's history doesn't say they're squeezing teams. If anything I think if other teams say to Treliving there's a bidding war, he has to win it. He's over played his hand in a few deals over the years - whether it's signings or trades.

Good Lord. Are we now moving from “Treliving is always in but never finishes deals” to “Treliving never lets himself get outbid”?

Eichel's trade value is sinking like the Titanic, with him needing some sort of surgery one has to believe Adams wouldn't be dumb enough to sewer his value by letting this get into late summer.
This has an idiot narcissist owner's fingerprints all over it.

Throw them dube and a 2023 3rd rounder and see what happens.
