Why the excessive hyperbole? Just chill dude.

Mangiapane can play throughout the lineup. He's grown immensely the last 24 months, and would've had second most goals on your revered Lightning.
All good, and yeah it was hyperbole. I do like all of those players, when Eat Bread is on, he's a real treat to watch.

None of the guys I mentioned are playing their proper position or have enough skill to play the first line RW. Any of Tkachuk, Dube, Mangi, Ritchie, Coleman playing top line right wing minutes is not a recipe for success.

Also when mods act the way Texty did, you're probably not gonna get a great reaction

Tkachuk has a ton of skill, so I assume the fact he’s a LHS will make him a bad RW. Like Rantanen, Kucherov, Svechnikov, etc.

People keep posting proof that Coleman was not playing 3rd-line minutes or 3rd-line situations in Tampa. You keep claiming that he's a 3rd-liner based on nothing but your own say-so. I think I know which side I'm likely to believe.
The proof that he played 3rd line minutes is that he played on Tampas 3rd line. Regardless of whatever statistics are put out, Coleman is a 3rd liner on a cup winning team. You can believe whatever you want but he literally just won 2 Stanley cups playing on their 3rd line. There is no statistic better than what just happened.

Tkachuk is close ish to Svech and a few tiers below Kuch and Rantanen. Will Chucky ever win an Art Ross like Kuch? Doubt it.

Sure, but then you make the claim that Coleman will be playing significantly harder competition in Calgary and then go ahead and ignore the fact that Coleman literally played the most time against elite competition on Tampa

Wow you just proved he WAS playing third line on Tampa. Way to go. Does that mean that he is locked into 3rd line position no matter where he plays? I didn't think that was a rule in the NHL that you have to play the same position every year on every team.

Have a look at time on ice for Tampa forwards during the cup final.

Well, that depends on whether you define 'depth guy' by where he played (3rd line), or how he played (top 6 productivity).

For me, how a person plays defines what they are.

The Flames had Ritchie on the top line for a while - that didn't make him a top 6 guy, he was still a depth player.

Steven Stamkos: middle six forward.

This would have been a good response to start

My original point was I am wary of Stanley cup “depth” (your comments are noted) in that a guy playing behind what is likely great players can change how the perform. Hard to expect the same in an elevated role.

Now saying that, back in my first post, I don’t think the money or term are all that bad. Cap goes up in 2-3 years.

And you're ignoring his linemates in Tampa were significantly better than what he will play with here. My indicator for this theory is his 2 stanley cups. Is there a better indicator?

Coleman's linemates were Gourde and Goodrow. He'll have better linemates here on either our 1st or 2nd lines guaranteed.

And I really like Gourde.

He played with Goodrow and Gourde.

Call me crazy, but I think that if he plays on the top line (as you have been lamenting), that his new linemates of Gaudreau and Monahan are just a tiiiiiiiny bit better

The equivalent of Goodrow and Gourde is Pitlick and Backlund. And that would be the absolute worst linemates he could expect on the Flames

I also agree that there's almost 0 chance this happens, but I'd rather eat my own balls than celebrate a great 3rd liner being signed for 6 years.
