If those proposals are in fact way too much, then there is no excuse for failing to acquire this player.

They are still over the cap, have only 6 D signed and have Patrick as an RFA. Unless they move a ton of money they aren't getting anyone. All their good young players are on Montreal and other teams now.

They still have 0 cap space after trading Reaves, they were 1.78 million over the cap before the trade.
And that's with 6 D and they still need to sign Patrick.

Agreed. Especially for a guy who we know isn't 100% healthy. I'm all for making a push for Eichel, but not at that price.

Very possible. Man oh man I bet the Sabers are trying to find a way to keep Eichel at this point

If Tre somehow turns Monahan ++ into Eichel and adds Nick Ritchie too, that will be one hell of a forward group.
Gaudreau - Eichel -Tkachuk
Mangiapane - Lindholm - Coleman
N. Ritchie - Backlund - Pitlick
M. Lucic - Dube - Lewis / B. Ritchie
Droooooool...

Buffalo wants futures, not salaries. However, they are miles from the floor and need to take some salary.
That being the case, Lucic might actually be attractive to them. His cap hit for the next 2 years is $5.75M, but his actual salary is only $5M, then $4M.
If the Flames retained a million or two, they might be willing to take him instead of Dube.
Monahan, Lucic $2M retained, Zary, 1st (top 3 protected), and a 2nd in 2023

I don't see Lucic waiving his NMC to go to Buffalo. Especially when Eichel is coming the other way and the Flames might actually make some noise.
Even Monahan has a 10 team no trade list and I imagine Buffalo is on that.

Has this 2015 SI article been posted before?
https://www.si.com/hockey/news/jack-...and-back-again
Quote:
Both born and raised in New England, Eichel and Hanifin first played against each other when they were about 10 or 11. They were teammates at USA Hockey's National Development Program in Ann Arbor, Mich., and on this year's world junior team. But with Eichel at Boston University and Hanifin at Boston College, they faced off against each other again as part of a cracking college hockey rivalry.
|
Quote:
“Noah brings out the best in me," Eichel said at the draft combine. "He's a good friend of mine and it's great competition playing against him."
|
Quote:
Because Hanifin played against McDavid at the world juniors and Eichel during the NCAA season, he has a rather unique perspective on the two phenoms. And why not ask the best blueline prospect in the draft about the two best forwards available?
“Connor's crafty in the corners," Hanifin said. "He's very good on his edges, spinning in the corners, whereas Jack is a powerful north-south guy who will beat you with his speed if he needs to.”
|
Bring this kid to Calgary Brad.

Fan 960 guys don’t know what they’re talking about then. That proposed trade is like 5 x 1st round picks. even more since Tkachuk is fully developed RFA team control star.

They are good when it comes to things like chips and beer, maybe even wings.
They seem to know little about hockey these days lol

The Kings of the grass is greener. Lindholm + Hanifin + was their price for PLD earlier this season. Never scored 30 goals or 70pts and requested a trade PLD

Crash and Bang Winger
|
3-Way trade idea:
To CGY: Eichel
To NYR: Monahan
To BUF: CGY 2022 1st, CGY 2023 2nd, NYR 2022 1st (Top 5 protected), Connor Zary, Zac Jones
Buffalo gets the equivalent of 4 first rounders, New York gets a top 6 C, and Flames win the cup
Can sub New York with Vegas or Minnesota
