Treliving is bleeding picks again. We had that discussion a couple days early. Wonder if Bingo’d pull out some stats to correct me again

You whine incessantly about Tre doing nothing. Now, he's doing something, and you bitch about it.
That's, uh, that's awesome. Can't wait to read more.

Treliving’s philosophy is to spend draft picks on plugs to fill the lineup. That potentially damages the system in the long run. It’s acceptable if the team was winning but they have not. So here we are.
|
Of course whether they were good trades is part f the debate. And Vladar is no plug to fill the lineup. Neither is Zadorov really, and that was a free pick anyway.

The ages of 21-23 are usually where most of the Flames goaltending prospects falter.
It's nice to have someone who is already on the other side of that curve.
Like others here have noted, it worked out for Rittich.

Yeah I think Vladar is a good trade. No way the Flames can find a goalie like that with a 3rd rounder
Zadorov can go either way depending on how much they have to pay him. If it’s any more than 3M, he wasted a pick.

At least I am fair. I gave both positive and negative reviews
I supposed you only want to hear the good part.

I'm pumped for Vladar. Very pleasant surprise after thinking they'd go the FA route for a backup.

Very solid numbers in the AHL. Could be a sneaky good pick-up. Prefer this guy over a lot of the UFAs out there. Hopefully Sutter gives him a good number of games so he can develop.

We've had so many promising goalies come through here and flat line and/or come up short of expectations.
Hopefully playing behind a Sutter team has both our goalies unbeatable this season.

This exactly the kind of player you spend picks on. Young and ready for a larger role. Vladar has been an under the radar player for a while simply because of the depth the Bruins had in net.
This was a wyly move by the Flames. Probably the best acquisition of the day. Actually I think it is. Coleman 2nd.

This deal has really grown on me too. I'm admittedly jealous of other teams who have been able to deploy young hotshot goalie prospects and have them perform well if not very well. We haven't done that since... Mike Vernon?
Seriously, every single one has either busted or plateaued before moving elsewhere. Kidd was just average (IIRC), and Kipper was in his late twenties by the time he came here...

This is the exact type of player you spend picks on.......if it works.
We said this about guys like Lazar too.
If the guy comes in and falls on his face, then you've just thrown a pick away.

That’s what I said, all this would be fine if they are winning. They have not so it looks like he is selling the future for nothing

It's the same as waiting to see if we end up with a Monahan or an Emile Poirier. At least this way we don't have to throw him into an ez bake oven. And the difference here is Vladar has been trending the right way during development. Whereas the Lazar incident was paying for a struggling player betting a change of scenery would kick start him again.

Sutter loves to ride his #1
Vladar won’t see much ice time

He is selling a pick with a 12% chance ever playing in the NHL (which he obtained for selling a rental backup goaltender at the trade deadline) for a young prospect who has a 100% chance. It’s like trading a mid 3rd round pick that you got for free for a late 1st round pick. The team still has the same number of assets, but one of them might now be considered one of their top prospects. All the Flames are missing out on is the development time and the high probability that a 3rd round pick won’t make the NHL.
I agree with those who say this might be the steal of the day.

Agreed, Lazar was already an established tweener who was picked up as a reclamation project that failed. This is a young goalie prospect who is trending upward and is on the cusp of landing a backup role. He will either be the Flames’ backup this year or he will be part of a further trade, because the Flames won’t want to expose him to waivers.
