First? Sakic made lots of very bad blunders in his first few years as GM. He has improved a lot, and Colorado has benefitted from some incredible luck, but there was a time when Sakic couldn't do anything right. He signed Joe Colbourne to a two year $5.0 m contract.

He can't play more than 30/40 games a season. This may be the worst contract of free agency so far. This puts the Avs in a bind but I can't fault them for letting him walk if that contact is what it was going to take.

Driedger should never have been a starter anyway. He's 27 and played this one season... that is nowhere near enough of a history to make him the starter.
That being said, Grubauer is very injury prone, so maybe Driedger gets more games than expected anyway?

If your biggest blunder is a two year 2.5 AAV contract you’re probably doing a pretty good job.

I think people who were going to latch on to the Kraken as their new team need to consider that this is looking like a tire fire... Of course, they can still luck into Wright and Bedard.
