I like Ryan, and I wish him well, but I am glad that he is moving on.


I really liked him on the 3rd line - he does a lot of things well. I just didn't like that he is another undersized player that isn't particularly fast. With Monahan, Lindholm and Backlund ahead of him - as well as Dube that can play centre and Ruzicka looking like he should be taking a step forward in the organization, and still having Zary who looks very mature - it was the right decision to move on I think.


I hope he is the only Oiler to do well, but for the team to still stink.

Ryan is a very smart player and even if his speed deteriorates over the next couple years I still believe he'll be a serviceable player

Also if this deal is around $1.5 with yaomoto and foegle still to be signed this is setting up for a koskinen buy out.

If that happens they will be out of the running for any free agents next summer.

That was when the Flames took 6th liners and proclaimed them to be "top line centres" and "top line wingers." Ryan was a decent/good player for Calgary....

Sad to see him go to the Oilers; was actually hoping he would go to Seattle to finish his career as that would be a nice way to end it.

That said, he was a Golden Bear, so probably still has some friends up in Edmonton too.

They have 6.6 M to sign Yamamoto, Foegele and Ryan. Should be able to sign all 3 for that price.

13 F, 8 D and 3 G all signed within the salary cap (plus the dead cap is included in there).
