I am sure management agrees except the big name vets like Drew Pouty are whining they need to compete now.

I doubt management puts doughtys tears ahead of their rebuild plan.

Yet the media says that is exactly where the pressure to compete now is coming from so apparently they do.

Fair enough, but I doubt they cave to that pressure

Kings signing Danault is not good IMO.

I'd rather Vegas had done that. They are most likely to get Eichel in my mind.

Buffalo could elect to keep Eichel, distraction and all, because no one was willing to pay the cost to have an Art Ross contender.

Does Montreal have the cap space for Eichel? Could see them making a deal as well.

Rangers are apparently hanging around but I don't know how much of a stomach Buffalo has to trade to a rival.

Ya, honestly that may be the best move for them. Except it may be hard to rank for draft picks with him I the lineup

Only thing holding this up is Lanny refusing to un-retire #9.

Pegula wants Eichel traded to the Western Conference.

Well, if he's not in the lineup next year, that gives them a decent shot at Wright or another decent talent. Then they try to put it all together in 2022-23 with Powers, Dahlin, Eichel, (2022 pick), Middlestadt, maybe some other adds.

For all we know, getting rid of Ristolainen was addition by subtraction.

Would be a terrible move in my opinion, Sabres don't want the distraction

They need to start fresh, (i.e. reason they have already traded two of their players.)

My guess if a trade did not occur, its likely a hold out.
