The only thing the Canucks are going to win at this year!
... To be fair to Vancouver that doesn't have Poolman or Juolevi which would apparently bring it up enough to be ahead of the Oilers... but the Oilers still have cap space to add another player, so...

Yeah I meant Rathbone and Poolman, not Juolevi and Poolman. That being said I am actually not sure which of Juolevi or Rathbone will be 3LD for them... hardly matters; either way that's an atrocious blue line. It's amazing that two teams in the same division are racing each other to the bottom like that.

It's funny, OEL is just Loui Eriksson all over again on the blue line. And this contract is just Jay Beagle all over again on the blue line. Replacement level player for double what he's worth and 4 years' term.
Amazing.

They now have 16.3M remaining to sign Pettersson, Hughes, Jason Dickinson and Olli Juolevi.
I assume Dickinson and Juolevi together are about 4. So you have 12M for your two stars.
How the hell does this work?
They have Ferland on LTIR for an additional 3.5 mill in cap space. It doesn’t come up until the start of the season but every team can exceed their cap by 10% before the start of the season which equates to about 8 mill for the Canucks. Juolevi is also not a priority signing.

O your serious? Van took joules over Tkachuk, Kelller, sergachev, bean, and McAvoy exactly in that oder .

It isn't terrible yet. It's a lot of questions with the potential to be terrible. A lot of potential.
All these guys were bad for their former teams and you're just praying they'll suddenly become good once they join the defensive juggernaut that is... the Vancouver Canucks? Last in the league in xGA?

Indicators point to it being terrible much like the did for Holtby last season. I recall this time in free agency last season you saying you weren't worried about Holtby. One reason I'm not a fan of reclamation projects is because more than not players are what they are. That said there are head coaches out there that implement systems that put players in position to succeed. Travis Green hasn't been able to implement much of a defensive structure in Vancouver. They have never really played solid team defense under him which is another reason I would be pretty concerned.

As someone who has had a stroke, I'm seeing some symptoms worth checking out.

Sure, there are indicators. There also somethings that are also worth saying "But there is this that can change everything." Just like with Holtby. Now, I will say that in the end, I was right not to be worried about Holtby. There were so many other issues last year that he was the least of our problems.
As for defensive system, the system the Nolan Baumgartner used was absolute dog ####. There's a reason he got demoted and Brad Shaw got brought in.

Shaw and Dickinson as the matchup center are the biggest reason for hope in defensive zone improvement

If he hadn't taken juolevi we wouldn't have Petterson and Hughes
