Top 5 in the whole Leaugue? I don't know if he's even top 5 in the division yet alone league.

No. You’re out to lunch. He was top 2 in the division that’s for sure.

One of the worst, most out-to-lunch posts I've seen in quite a time.
Tanev was very arguably the best defensive D-man in the entire NHL last season. He was, simply put... incredible

If he was top-5 in the league defensive d-man the Flames make the playoffs in the weak Canadian division.
Vlasic played in 12 out of 13 playoffs seasons

Yes, because one D-man can drag his entire team into the Playoffs...

No....Tanev was good, but we need to pump the brakes on calling him the best defensive D-man in the league. We're lucky he turned into a solid top-4 defenseman and not a total anchor of a contract.

Connor McDavid once won the Hart trophy and missed the playoffs.
Limited team success doesn’t disqualify individual performance

not talking about the temporary canadian joke division. But you are telling me there is only 1 better defenceman in Canada? Come on . He had a good season, but he's no superstar

Huh?
Yeah, I will absolutely double down on that one.
Him and Hanifin were one of the top defensive pairings in the league while they were together.
They didn't allow a goal against while they were on the ice until literally weeks into the season.
I think his game rubbed of off Noah as well and has made him a better defender as a result.

He shut McDavid totally down.... only 18 pts in 10 games against the Flames
Better than the Canucks shut down guy - Elder?

I know that when it comes to some "Flames fans", that absolutely nothing could please them, but going as far as trying to discredit Tanev's season, which was absolutely dominant and was BY FAR the Flames' best D-man is just hilarious

Tanev had a good season. But when you go on to say top 5 in the league it just gives off "best player not in the NHL" vibes.

True enough.
But Leon Draisaitl won it in a year the Oilers missed the playoffs. And McLoser won it this year in a season his team did not win a single playoff game.

Best defensive D-man, not best D-man overall.
Tanev had a remarkable season. Saying anything less is an understatement.

They were talking strictly defensively and just last season only- which the numbers back up
