I wonder what the salary number looks like? I'd give him four years depending on the salary number.

Would not be surprised if Treliving is on the phone with his agent tomorrow. Flames are not likely to be a high scoring team 5 on 5 so his power play skills would fill a big void on the point.

I bet his number is pretty unrealistic. Teams don’t want to pay for one dimension D any more.
He may be a guy that is not signed for a few days, watches other D get signed, then has to take a lower deal.

With the Seth Jones deal, Hamilton will require a lot more to sign. Maybe New Jersey or Carolina if he decides to take less to stay there.

I think this is probably right, but I don’t like that number, especially for a guy who relies so heavily on PP for his stats.
To me he’s a negative copy of Tanev. So that’s about how much I’d give him.

You don’t think Yandle is worth 150k over league minimum but you want to give Tyson Barrie a big 4 year contract
Super curious as to your thought process here

Barrie makes me think of what Al Coates said about having Phil Housley on the team. Paraphrasing from memory:
‘Sure, he's a one-dimensional player, but it's a dimension we haven't got.’
One big reason the Flames' top forwards have had so much trouble scoring lately is that they don't get much help from the back end. Barrie could definitely fix that.

The two players showed very different things recently. Barrie was surprisingly good defensively for the Oilers. I mean, he wasn't a liability out there most of the time. He fits a need for the Flames given we could shelter him. Yandle OTOH, is just a defensive liability every time he puts his skates on and there is no where to hide him. I could handle Barrie and think he would fit in.

I see it differently. They are both one dimensional specialists who can QB a powerplay very well
Barrie just was on a better powerplay. Their defensive metrics actually favor Yandle in that regard but neither had pretty results

Agreed, fair market value is probably about 5M for a team that needs a power play quarterback and doesnt need him to eat up tough matchups.
Problem is Oilers need more help on the tough matchups.

If only he was a left shot, then you can pair him with Tanev.
Maybe he can play the left side?

Oh did that come into effect?
I guess Brett Ritchie didn't get as big a raise as we thought then.

Interestingly enough, the Flames were 12th in 5v5 scoring last year.
