Ya, Treliving likes his 6 year deals. I personally prefer 8, I’d like to keep the AAV as low as possible.

Kase is definitely not worth it at this point due to health concerns let alone a contract worth more than 3M. I'd rather Mangiapane take that spot on the top 6 RW spot and he's got a better shot of getting 35+ points.

Zadorov and Kase would be good adds imo. If not zadorov, goodbranson would be decent. I think this team needs a big meany on D.

While I might not want those guys in particular, this is a me too league and one of the big takeaways for me from these past playoffs were that big mean defensemen are back in style.

Ya, I’d take Zadorov on the 3rd pair. He’d probably work well with Sutter.

I'd love Zaddy on the Flames ....and I think right now the only guy we have that's willing to drop the Mitts is Mackey.
 6'6" 230.....he's a big boy.

Flames need to sign a legit top 4 LHD and preferably he brings the ability to produce offense and run a PP.

 After that you have:

 Valimaki
 Mackey
 Kylington
 Kinvall

Those 4 battling for 2 spots on the bottom pair.

I just don't see the use for bringing in an expensive(ish) vet to play bottom pair. If guys like Zadorov or Gudbranson will sign for near league minimum then sure, but I doubt they do that. Probably just bring Stone back to fill that role of veteran bottom pair Dman.

Aston-Reese not being qualified by Pittsburg is interesting. They’ve already lost Tanev and McCann, you’d think they’d want to hold on to him as a defensive forward.

what about getting a guy like Bogosian as a depth, RHD, with some grit?
Had a pretty decent year with the leafs.

Heard Bogo would rather play in the US. The difference between Canadian and American COVID protocols wasn’t something he wanted to go through again. He is an American.

Not sure why Johnny would forgo UFA to sign a 6 year deal.

If Calgary wants Johnny, they'll need to go 8 years. It's the one advantage they have over other teams, they'll need to take advantage of it.

Of course the deal will stink at the end.

That's the cost of doing business.

FWIW I think that kinnval will be ready for the NHL. Hard to say if he will be an impact player but the right shot 23/24 year old tore up the SHL the last two years.

I think Backlund is as good an all-around player as Monahan. But then I put a high value on how effective a player is without the puck.

Zadorov would be a good add. He and Lucic can reminisce about when Milan smoked him in the face a few years ago. https://youtu.be/w2JqFIbXdXs |

That's why you have to strongly consider trading him. If you onow you're just going to be a shooting yourself in the foot with the deal, let someone else give him that deal. The goal is to accumulate assets like picks and young players for cheap and when it gets to the point that you have to give them a poison pill contract, trade them. Get to the point where you have a lot of good affordable players and go for it.

How about we trade for Eichel and give a full year for full recovery and mean while we re-sign Gaudreau and play bunch of young guys but finish bottom 3 and get a player. And start 2022-23 season with retooled roster.

Who ever acquires Eichel, it will be interesting to see what type of surgery is performed on his neck

Its a risk for sure....

No, your goal is to wish the Flames would do that, they are not doing that. The team has obviously signaled they are going for it now so inking Gaudreau is a no brainer, even if it is 8 years.
