Now this kid sounds like Brodie. I love Brodie, so I love this pick!

Just because the players are big it doesn’t make them Hunter Smith.

Hunter Smith = Bigger , slower and not an ounce of skill. These guys are more like Hathaway

One of the best skaters in the draft?

This is a weird draft from a scouting perspective. This has the sounds of a late round home run.

Neither the second or third picks are Hunter Smith types.

He's one of the fastest skaters in the draft, 6'2", and already plays a solid defensive game. His numbers would be higher, but he typically didn't get to play on the top pairing with Daemon Hunt. His numbers will blow up next year, as he develops his offense. At worst, you're getting a defensive defenseman who can move the puck, and skate like a fart in a windstorm.

In the FIFTH ROUND! That's good drafting.

I know your post is likely facetious because that's all we do here anymore, but Hunter Smith is a very poor comparison for either of those players.

He just lacks some of the sexyness as some of the D-men drafted before him, but he has the tools. He's far from a finished product.

TJ Brodie had 30 pts in 68 games in his draft year in the OHL, and was taken in the 4th round. This kid has some of the same attributes.

Clearly he can predict the future and knew he was going to be drafted by Calgary when they took this picture. There's no other logical explanation.

Did I mention that I like this pick?

“Some prospects skating look like a messy crayon painting that you would reserve for your fridge,
then there’s Cole Jordan’s, whose skating looks like it belongs in a museum so people can stare at it in
awe” – HP Scout, Brad Allen, June 2021
