This is the kind of prospect that the Flames need more of IMO. Size, physicality, but has a lot of skill and speed (though he needs to work on his agility, but does often burn defencemen).

Really hope this kid pans out for the organization. I really like this pick!

From the user "Thedeefact" on Reddit:

"Hey flames fans. I'm from the City Örnsköldsvik where he played in Modo all last year. So I basically watched every single game he played last season.

i think he has an amazing future. 6'3 but his skating is really good and its like powerful skating. Hard to explain for me in english. Great shot and good vision. Pretty good allround player. Probably need to work on his defensive game.

In the beginning of the season he barely got a spot on the team but in the end he was one of the best players creating something every shift and was one of the best offensive players.

So yeah.... I think he is gonna be REALLY good in like 2-3+ years. Unfortunately I dont think he will get a lot of ice time in Rögle next year since they are a top team in the SHL and he really only started to fire off in the end of last season. So I don't think he's quite ready for SHL
He got offered a contract in Modo 1 more year with a big offensive role but he choose SHL instead which I think is bad. Probably gonna end up with like 5-6 minutes avg where he could be up towards 20+ in the Allsvenskan. Hopefully he proves me wrong tho."

Somewhere in between a Chris Kreider and Benoit Pouliot would be pretty cool

I’m Swedish so perhaps I’m biased, but I’ve seen this kid and he’s going to be good.

NHL good? Yea, potential is there for (as mentioned) a Kreider type of player. Won’t be a line driver or go to guy, but a scoring threat that’ll skate hard, forecheck and with a bit of bulk added who knows? Can skate with the puck and finish. Add 30 lbs and he can pretty much run through defenders. Rögle is 45 min from where I live so hopefully I get a chance to watch him a live a few times.

I was talking with former Flame Brendan Mikkelson today who played with Stromgren in Modo last year. Says he has absolutely elite talent and vision but obviously needs work on the finer points of the game. He’s raw. Brendan thinks he’s going to be a player and just as importantly, says he’s a great kid.

Probably the most intriguing pick for the flames this year. Obviously Coronato is the most exciting pick but I'm fascinated to see how Stromgren develops and will be checking the backburner frequently to see how he is doing.

Like this pick. Reminds me of Fredrik Modin.

It reminds me of Johan Franzen. Is that dumb?

The Mule. Powerful skating stride. When Stromgren was picked I looked up two guys:

Franzen
Quote:
By now the story of Franzen's nickname, Mule, is legendary in Detroit: It was given to him by former Wings captain Steve Yzerman, because one day Franzen, 6-feet-3 and 220 pounds, skated by and Yzerman thought, "Wow, what a mule." Seriously.

"He was just so big and powerful," Yzerman said, "and I just thought, 'that guy is a mule.' "

Hintz
I don't know if Stromgren comparable but guys like Hintz and Gurianov (big and fast) posed a challenge in the DAL series that CGY had problems with.

I really like big, fast and skilled. If they kept the high IQ, competitive and good character too then I really happy.

Powerful guys who can play big minutes and own the puck. I like it!

Hey if this kid turns into David Jones, I'll be happy.
