I forget about Zary, but one of the remarks about Pelletier was also that he had a high compete level. I like it. It’s one of the deficits on this team.
The most interesting thing I learned is that Jim Cummings is from Chicago. There was a strong implication that Cummings scouted Coronato a lot. That adds an extra layer of trust in the Flames’ decision for me because Cummings was behind the Gaudreau and Fox selections.

I'm somewhat excited about this pick and hopefully he turns out a good player but what's with us always drafting guys that need to work on their skating?
Monahan, Bennett to a lesser extent, Tkachuk, Valimaki, Zary, Coronato.
I'm really hoping Coronato is better than Rosen and Lucius.
Did Treliving reflect about how confident he was that fox would sign?
You seem pretty obsessed with Fox. Will you only be happy if the Flames forever close off drafting any NCAA players and close off access to that talent pool forever?
Get over it. You are acting like an ex girlfriend cheated on you, now every woman you date will cheat on you for the same reason.

His skating doesn't look particularly bad speed-wise. He does fashion himself after Brayden Point so maybe he'll work on his skating like Point did.

Typical Francis to start off and sounding like a D bag asking his question. Matthew handled it well though, kid sounds very well spoken.
This was the worst first person to give access to. He absolutely had to ask the dick question and go for drama. I hope johnny re ups with the team and this guy signs at the end of next year. Then I hope they both call him out as a jackweed publicly!!!!

I like how he said he watches the Flames a lot because he is a Gaudreau fan. He really comes across as professional and just happy to be part of an NHL organization.
Nothing about the way he talked sounded evasive or non-committal. I think we can put this to rest for now.

Now I just hope we sign johnny in the next week! And tkachuk as well!

I agree. In the interview with all the Flames media, he was asked point blank about whether he’d play for the Flames. He replied, “Yes, definitely.” The answer was crystal clear, completely unambiguous, and his tone sounded genuine.

Once bitten twice shy, but some people don't learn as quick
Fox not signing had little to do with Harvard and a lot to do with his love of NY. It’s not like he stayed to finish his degree when NYR came calling. Now, he was a 3rd rounder and I don’t know if teams even talk to draft prospects that far down the list, whereas I bet they talked to Coronato, who was ranked right in their first round wheelhouse.
Another thing that I like about this pick that I haven't seen mentioned is that he played more games this year than many of the draft eligible players. This should lesson the risk associated with this draft that many were concerned about.
A Right shot, c/rw player that tore up the League night in night out? Sounds amazing to me at our draft position. Here's to hoping he keeps progressing and tears up the NHL in flames silks in a few years.
