Yikes, that is an awful lot to give up. I mean, Jones is good, but not worth 9.5... and you could have waited a year and just signed him as a UFA instead of giving up Boqvist who might provide more value on his own during his RFA years.
Bowman just waiting until Benning makes a deal that would make anyone look good by comparison and bam, trigger pulled.

Contract is about $1 million overpriced at the current cap, but Jones is a legitimate top pairing guy, and I imagine he wouldn't have agreed to a trade or contract with Chicago if they didn't pay top dollar. He was already making $5.4 million. This will look better if the cap goes up some over the next few years. This contract only takes him to 34. Pretty solid deal in place for your anchor on defense, and they didn't give up a ton to get him either.
