This has to be the worst asset management I have ever seen.

I'd argue that Ghost is every bit as good as Ristolainen.

Multiple teams were offering a first.

Gostisbehere is better than Ristolainen....

So you give up a 2nd to move Gostisbehere.

Then add a 1st, 2nd, and Hagg to get Ristolainen.

While increasing your cap hit by $900k.

Just a horrible week for the Flyers.

This should be a strong indication of how weak the GMs think this draft is too.

I hate Fletcher if Ken Holland was offering a first and he outbid him

I am very much an analytics guy, but understand they don't always show everything.

I think Keith will be much better in Edmonton than he was in Chicago. Although, I don't think Edmonton is the best place for him.

I expect Risto to be better in Philly, but again I'm not sure that is the best place for him.

What? That's insane.

These trades are awful - especially when put together. But Ristolainen is a way better player. There is a reason why 3 GMs passed on taking Gostisbehere WITH picks.

Still, giving up all those picks to move from one to the other is insanity.

While you may be correct, GM's obviously disagreed, as there were apparently many offers of 1st round picks for him.

This helps Columbus out too. Sets a good floor for Seth Jones.

Both are bad.

At least Gostisbehere drives play offensively a little bit.

Ristolainen is big, and hits/blocks shots but all other metrics have him as a liability on the ice.

I actually think Ristolainen might be better on a different team with more defensive structure and a better defensive parter. But to move the equivalent of Gostisbehere, Hagg, 1st, 2 2nds to be able to bring him in is just a ridiculous move.

Ristolainen isn't good at anything. Gostisbehere is a pretty good offensive player.

Multiple offers of first round picks eh?

Maybe this speaks more to the Flames failure in analytics. We know the Flames analytics team does not like Risto. We also know the Flames, with this analytics team place, allowed the Flames to sign guys like Brouwer and Neal.

What's more likely, the rest of the league is wrong or the Flames management is wrong?

Philly is probably a better team so far but that’s a ton of picks and youth for Ellis and Risto. Risto is a ufa too so if he has a good year they will need to resign him.

Buffalo on the other hand definitely helped turning things around. They are going to be loaded with youth and Risto probably had no interest in staying. That’s quite the hall for a rental from their perspective

This seems to be a bad post to suggest he has credibility. The only thing he seemed to get right was the division.

edit: Dumb Flyers hashtag

All analytics said the Brouwer deal was bad before it was made. All analytics say Ristolainen is bad at offence and defence.

If the Flames analytics are showing different, they've made mistakes.
