So is Coleman worth a 2nd liner contract over the next 5-6 years (assuming that's how much the flames would have to offer to get this type of deal done)?
I think the age window appears to be moving upwards for NHLers. There sure are a lot of 30+ players these days.

Didn't we get guys like Brouwer and Neal who were winners, came to Calgary, and became bums?

Never understood the complaints about starting a new thread. The title says what it is about - if you don't want to discuss it, don't open the thread. How is this a problem?

Poorly titled threads - now that is a different story.

That's a valid question, and I would hope (if there is a deal) that a) it is less than 6 years, b) that it isn't for top 6 money, and c) that the Flames are not penciling him in to the top 6 for that length of time.

To me, he is a middle 6 guy that could be pushed up the lineup when needed, but be on the 3rd line when all pistons are firing (similar to Backlund)

So a potential big add (still possible btw) can't have it's own topic?

I would guess if I put that to a vote you'd see you're not in the majority.

Excellent that we found something else to complain about though!

I honestly think I need a break from this place.

I hope you get past this massive slight. Thoughts and prayers.

I don't have a clue if this is true or not, but we have several teams talking to UFAs with permission across the league (likely some without permission as well)

Are you really gonna argue with Bingo over what deserves a thread on his own website?

If it isn't thread worthy, it'll fall off the front page

If he signs with Calgary all the people on the Hyman Edmonton thread will be have identified how bad a signing this would be.

Hyman won't work for Edmonton Coleman won't work with Calgary.

He is better than Goodrow who signed 21.85 over 6 years 3.64 cap hit with a 15 team NTC

Chances are they won't be able to trade Coleman to Edmonton for Hyman in 2-3 years.

that second tweet suggests that he is not at all plugged in, just responding that it can't be true (because he doesn't know anything about it)

We can’t say anything until the term and $ are revealed. It is known it will be a 7-8 year deal for Hyman. Anything more than 5 years on Coleman is a terrible move. If it is 5M x 4 years I take that over 5M x 8 years for Hyman

FWIW, the Athletic has Coleman’s projected contract pegged at $4.7 mil x 4.2 years. They also have him ranked as the 10th most attractive UFA on the market, ahead of guys like Saad and Palmieri.

Joe Smith is well liked by Tampa fans but I agree, he's not very plugged in.

And he's also ignoring that it isn't like Tampa thinks they can keep the whole gang together. So if they are realizing any particular players are just not coming back, why wouldn't they play deal broker to get a little something thrown in for their troubles? Further to that, they get a slight indirect say in where they go as well. If you think it's a valuable player, wouldn't you want him not just out of division, but out of conference as well.

Well to be fair Hyman has been given permission to talk to other teams.

No reports that any of the TBL UFAs have been given permission to talk to other teams.

I was wanting a Pettersson offer sheet under a separate thread rather than the Hyman thread.

Hey I hope that I have not been a stressor. Great site. Hard to stay away.

Two players the same age.

Both probably decline in roughly 3-4 seasons.

The guy with more term left and more dollars per year will be the worse contract at that point, so I disagree that you couldn't trade Coleman for Hyman at that point if their declines are similar.
