I like Lucic probably more than most people but he shouldn’t be the captain. I voted for no one for now. The reason being is that I’m not sure who will or won’t be here come October.
Assuming everyone on the list is still here I’d go Tkachuk but I’m not sure he’ll be here.

I went with nobody, but if I had to pick anyone it would be Backlund. If Tkachuk committed long term then I would go with him.

I don’t get that at all. I get “hates when things happen to him personally”.

One think I appreciate about Tkachuk is his candor with the media. He gives genuine insight in response to menial questions - even after losses.
From a fan perspective, that's something to appreciate. I'm sure the media appreciates it as well. Lucic is similarly open and raw with his responses.

If we give the C to Lucic do the Oilers match and give McDavid’s to Neal so they can keep believing they won that trade?

As much as I accept that it isn't the best medium-to-long-term solution, I voted for Lucic as Captain.
Many posters have criticized Gio's lack of playoff success, however, IMO, he epitomized what a team Captain should be in terms of modelling behaviour, on and off the ice. He maintained (if not enhanced) the baseline expectation of a leader that Iginla laid down before him. He led by example.
Until we see what (if any) other moves the team makes this Summer, I have exactly zero idea what this team is. From that perspective, I see Lucic as the player most able to sustain Gio's legacy, therefore providing some degree of stability and leadership. Lucic is honest, both in his on-ice play and in his off-ice assessment of the team; he also seems to command respect in the dressing room.
If the franchise were ready, I would advocate for Tkachuk to assume the Captaincy. However, we are (a) unsure as to what this team even is right now (as aforementioned) and (b) unsure as to Tkachuk's long-term presence on this team. (Trading him would be a mistake, IMO/FWIW).
All these things considered, for me, the best short-term solution would be to give Lucic the "C" for the upcoming season, then re-evaluate.

If only he was as impressive on ice as behind the microphone
I see a future in broadcasting for sure

I don’t think Tanev has been here long enough to be captain. Sample size is too small.

Right.
Since being drafted he is 44th in the entire league in scoring, being surpassed by only by guys named Marchand, Panarin, Ovechkin, Gaudreau, and Huberdeau at his position, all at the age of 24....isn't impressive at all.
Hilarious.

Sure, he has talent. When he wants to play
He quit on his team when a guy flipped a puck at him
Mature
I would prefer a captain with good character

One meh year, moslty under a lame duck coach, and all of a sudden people around here treat him like he's Joe Colbourne or something.

Oh...so now you know his character do you??
Finishing 3rd on your team in offensive production seems like quite the trick when you quit playing...but OK.
Good one.

Both Tkachuk and Monahan are ready and capable in my opinion, I think I'll be disappointed if they don't assign a Captain and just go with a bunch of As.

Right. Did you watch the games?
Are you trying to tell me with a straight face that he gave his best effort last season after the puck flip indecent?
Everybody and their dog could see that something was off with him, it was as plain as the nose on your face
Of course he has the skill to put up numbers, that’s why he is the highest paid player on the team. We should be looking for a 70-80 point pace, not 60ish
Were you truly satisfied with his play last year?
He was not putting forth his best effort, it was obvious.
And maybe I do consider that an indicator of his character.
