I'm no expert here but isn't goal scoring a fairly important stat?

Don't go throwing around your fancy advanced statistics.
They are only good for nighttime drunks to stand on.

This is all incorrect. Monahan is a better goal scorer, that is it and that is when he was healthy and didn't have multiple wrist surgeries. Dvorak is also a much more driven player than Monahan who floats a lot.

Among others. It isn't the be all end all or Patrick Laine would be considered one of the top 3 forwards in the NHL.

Oh okay I guess all the data is wrong and your eye test is correct.

Monahan doesn’t float, especially last season. He played pretty hard. His mobility was bad due to the hip (and it was never good to begin with) and it affected his shot a lot. Sutter had a lot of praise for him and he doesn’t praise floaters.

I really don’t know what’s going on in the relationship between Sutter and Monahan. On the one end, Sutter had great things to say about him before he joined and also said he was doing everything he asked. At the other end, he moved him to the wing and let the media notify him and piss him off.

Hard to say where Mony stands in Sutters mind right now.

Data is skewed when one player is playing with high end talent on a competitive team and the other is playing with dog crap.

True. Although, if Laine was reaching his offensive potential and scoring ~50g a season, he'd be in the conversation.

Sutter singled Monahan out several times, which he rarely does. He put him on the PK as well. The moving to wing - maybe just an error in communication. Not everything Sutter does is intentionally aimed at sending a message.

If Monahan is traded, then Rasmus Andersson will have been with the Flames the organization the longest only after Backlund and Gaudreau.
Time flies.

And yet people complain about roster turnover with this team.

It's ridiculous.

There are 4 players that remain from our opening night 2017-2018 roster.

Gaudreau, Monahan, Backlund, Tkachuk

No goalies, not a single d-man, and 4 forwards.

That’s not enough. It should be zero.

Holy moly, all these comparisons with Dvorak and Monahan…..Dvorak can’t carry Sean Monahan’s hockey bag. The guy has struggled with injuries, Sean Monahan is a very good hockey player and is greatly undervalued here.

IMO Dvorak would be a good option on the second line with Tkachuck (if they keep him). Having Lindholm and Monahan on the first line together would work, Backlund on the third line and a rookie on the 4th line.

If Dvorak doesn't pan out, what about Domi?

With the trades proposed for Monny, JG and MT on this board we will have the lowest scoring roster in the history of the NHL! Or at least compete with Seattle!

No kidding, we surely don’t think much of our players here.

100% turn over every year till we get the 1st overall pick. Then throttle back to 75% to keep everyone one their toes.

I was joking in the original response BTW
