He created this situation in the first place. Giordano should have been traded before it got to this.
He’s talking about the cruel side of the hockey business, but he himself can’t make tough decisions. He just lets it get done to him.

Or both could have been traded at the deadline when this team was out of the playoffs and one was UFA and the other everyone knew would be the player left unprotected. But of course will have to tell ourselves that no one would have wanted either of these guys for a playoff run.

This year's trade deadline? Oh, no, never mind. Any contender would have needed the tagging room to take on Giordano's contract for '21-22, in spite of knowing that they were dead certain to lose him for nothing in the expansion draft. Any team that had a protection slot to waste on a 38-year-old player with one year left on his deal was not a contender.
This stuff has all been pointed out over and over again, and none of the ‘Treliving DUMB’ crowd have ever come up with a plausible trade that the Flames could have made at that time. Maybe, just maybe, not everything that goes wrong in the world is Brad Treliving's fault?

Not sure why people are upset... No way the flames could see what their at risk players were in the upcoming expansion, and no way they would try to make moves to avoid what happened today, at say the trade deadline, when they looked soo good at that time

That's not an excuse. It's a plain fact. You're saying that he should have sewered a team that just finished 2nd place in the entire league because of something that wasn't happening for two more years to come. And then you have the gall to say Treliving is dumb.
