But Kylington passed through waivers. WAIVERS!

I'm intrigued to see if Kylington pans out. He may be an bonafide NHLer, or he may be a bust. I'd rather find out with him wearing a Flames jersey.

If your hopes to fill Gio's shoes rest on Kylington, then i'm afraid you are lost.

Waivers last season don’t mean anything.

Everyone had full rosters, and full taxi squads. In order to claim a player off waivers, you’d also have to either then complete a trade within 24 hours (to free the roster spot), or had already put a player on waivers (without knowing the player you wanted was about to be on waivers).

It took significant effort to make a claim, they weren’t freebies.

No one else has mentioned it media wise. And it was a speculation on that reporters part.

I for one would be happy to roll with some younger D next year...
We always spend a tonne of assets in loading up our D every year and it doesn't seem to result in change.

Hanafin Tanev
Valimaki/Mackey Anderson
Valimaki/Mackey UFA
Stone

He is a UFA so the Flames better sign him before he the rest of the league gets their chance.

It would save the Flames 4-5 M on signing Hyman
You got it.

Stone would be a mainstay in my top 6. Probably as the defacto #5.

He was legitimately solid, steady, and used his shot well.

One of the most notable resurgences from a player on this team that looked to be one foot in retirement.

Stone is another quality player this organization has had for four years that they simply refuse to use correctly.

No surprise Darryl has been able to make something of him.

The Flames will definitely sign, acquire and play someone who is older.
Even in the deepest valley of the rebuild, they didn't allow the D to be that young.

They'll probably resign Stone and another grab another veteran to compete with Kylington/Valimaki/Mackey in a bottom pairing. You have to expect at some point Andersson, Hanifin or Tanev might get hurt and you need someone who can step in.

I can’t think of a single pundit that applauded the Tanev deal. I think everyone said he was declining and the term was too long

Oleksiak probably would have been target number 1 to replace Gio on that second pair but Seattle got him too.

Didn't the blood clot issue put him on IR for a while?
He looked like a decent defensemen the last part of this year but prior to that I think all he offered was the shot from the point.

Way to deal with the actual post.

Well done.

But sure sarcasm without actually referring to anything I said it the way to go.

His "gaffes" get overblown and his strong plays get grossly understated. He also rarely, if ever, gets the benefit of a Tanev type partner who'd be the perfect foil to his style of play.
What does that even mean?

I hope that these coaches have a better handle on at least the minimum level of play that doesn't hurt the team than the regular fan / CP poster.
