Surprised to see Ovie not protected. Curious to see what happens there.

Karlsson was 23.

Duchene is hurtling towards 30 and his terrible conditioning has caught up with him. He's also injury prone and ridiculously streaky. Why would you build a team around this guy?

The Oilers protected Archibald. He wasn’t resigned by Arizona 2 years ago.

Just so they don't have to use an expansion slot on him. He will sign his new deal after this with Washington.

The Oilers list is absolute garbage. I know they're praying they take Koskinen...

Thats just a list of sub-replacement-level randos.

Johnson is worth less than his cap hit. His best years are well behind him.

Who would you protect instead? Kahun? Slim pickings.

Think the Kraken take Kahun, but I'm partial to Benson -- still think Benson has potential, and a couple years younger.

That's a pretty decent lineup without even dipping into free agency or making a trade. Lots of flexibility on the backend to make some deals and recoup some players/picks.

That’s a terrible team.

Johansen is terrible with a horrible cap hit.

Who would want to take on the Quick contract with so many better options available?

Yeah Duchene is an enigma and might be the most overrated player of his generation. It seems like ever since he left Colorado he has been hot garbage and his new teams performance goes down with him. It stills blows my mind that Poille offered him the contract that he did.

I would pass on my pick before taking Johansen or Duchene.

Name recognition does not a team make.

There is a reason why Nashville needs to rebuild. Those two are it.

Karlsson was a young player who simply needed improved usage to become a decent player. Duchene has been getting the premium ice time and PP time. He’s been there, and no longer producing.

If Monahan was injured, so was Duchene. If you believe that.

If CP was picking Price and Drouin would both be safe, with Byon available (half kidding of course).

How is a 23 yo William Karlsson comparable to a 30 yo Duchene. Duchene had 13 points in 34 games last season.

.... Surprised people havent learned.

Yeah he also played over 50 games. I am just saying for those that say Duchene is done, he was also injured like Monahan

There’s nothing more annoying than the Monahan was injured debate (every season). Injured just enough to forgive his poor play but not enough to sit him out so year after year he grinds away with long stretches of poor performance.

If he is injured sit him out, let him rest and heal. If he isn’t, play him. Why is this so hard for the Flames?
