And Price is from Northern BC, so I can't see him being too upset if he is taken

Who else would Seattle take if not Price on the Montreal roster?
At the same time, if you get 20/21 regular season Carrie Price, probably not a good deal.

Can you imagine the uproar from Hab fans if Price is lost to Seattle? Oh, I want to see it happen now!

$52,500,000 cap hit for a goalie from ages 34 to 38, who's already got a lot of hard miles on him and has been running into injury problems?
I don't think it's that clear-cut. This looks to me more like the Habs hoping they can get a mulligan on that awful contract.

An elite goalie behind a deep roster handcuffs them to nothing but a good shot at glory.

is Lindgren or Allen more important to the franchise than Price?
He's the reason the Habs even made it to the Stanley Cup finals

I doubt Seattle wants to add 50M of contract for a 33 year old G.
Its not like they can just flip him for something else considering his NMC.

They’d want him because they want to win a Stanley Cup.
People, he was just in the Final. He doesn’t lose games when his team scores 3.
Draft a good backup.

Can’t say Bergeron hasn’t done a nice job of limiting Seattle from getting a good player from them. I don’t see anyone that jumps out on their eligible list. Don’t think they want an aging goalie at 10.5M when Driedger is their target though.

yeah...i'd roll the dice on Price for sure and hope he can have a Fleury like effect...
I'd be surprised if Montreal did that...its not like they have a SC winning Murray to protect like the Penguins had at the time of the last expansion draft

If he's waived the NMC Seattle doesn't have to reinstate it should they choose to acquire Price, right? It just means he can't be shipped right back to Montreal? I forget the technicalities.

Kind of a win-win for Montreal, if he's taken, frees up a lot of cap space, if not, they keep him.

Isn't Price's wife from the northwest US as well? IIRC they met while he was playing junior there.
I bet he'd be just fine being taken by Seattle and being their version of Fleury as they contend for division titles and probably even more just like Vegas did.

He was in the finals, but his team was never in the series; and that is the only time he's ever gone that far. I'm pretty sure the Kraken can get a goalie who's 90 percent as good as 34-year-old Carey Price (and better than 38-year-old Price) for half the money.
At the moment, 63 players in the NHL have cap hits of $7 million or more, and only four of those are goalies. There's a pretty good reason for that. As we've seen with Bobrovsky, a $10-million goalie can turn into a pumpkin without a moment's notice.

Price exposed? That's a pretty crazy development. I don't care to look up his term, but dollar value if I were to take on a contract I'd take on a HOF goaltender still playing well. After Montreal's run where the fans love Price, Bergevin is playing with fire. Massive ballsy move from a PR perspective.

He has waived it for expansion purposes. It remains intact.

The Seattle Kraken are going to have a better roster than the 2021 Montreal Canadiens.
If Price is overpaid, he’s overpaid by $2M at most. I’m sorry, but that’s not enough to not have an X-factor like that between the pipes.
Plus, Seattle can still take Driedger to play 30-35 games of more. What matters is having that guy healthy and ready for April, because he can take a team with no first line players at any position to the SCF.
Seattle will have first line players.

This kind of sucks. With guys like Domi, Tarasenko, Voracek, Price available - I doubt they take Giordano and his contract.
