I keep getting Pastujov in the second round. That would be unreal.

Pronman's 7 round mock draft.
https://theathletic.com/2708052/2021...shared-article
He has Calgary taking:
13. Svechkov
45. Francesco Pinelli
77. Josh Doan
84. Ryan Ufko
103. Tyson Galloway
141. Daniil Sobolev
173. Liam Gilmartin
205. Nate Benoit
Says he has heard Svechkov, Coronato, and Sillinger as names he has heard most with Calgary's first round pick. He seems to have dropped Lucius from that list and added Sillinger from his previous mock draft a couple of weeks ago.

Svechkov AND Pinelli?
That’s a successful draft.

He has the Flyers taking Sillinger right after the Flames and his commentary is interesting.
Quote:
As we go through the draft process, Sillinger is the name I keep hearing from scouts as the top 10 candidate who isn't being mocked enough in the top 10, which in this scenario happens again. The Flyers would likely be very happy to get him at 14.

Had a conversation with someone last night close to the situation (not Flames related but different organization) he said that IF Sillinger is there when the Flames pick he thinks they’ll take him. But the caveat is that I guess the Kings are “really interested” in him and the Senators like him a lot too. Take it for what it’s worth. Gonna be an interesting draft to see who falls/rises.

I have a feeling the players that will drop will be defencemen. I think some teams will get cold feet and end up picking the highest ranked forward on their list even if a defencemen that’s ranked higher is there for the taking. Just due to a recency bias from Cole Caufield. I think every team outside the top five is looking for that Cole Caufield forward. I see a guy like Edvinsson dropping out of the top 10. Maybe even drop to the 15th to 20th pick.

Yeah, forwards are more likely to make your team quickly, so teams looking to make their fans happy go for them over a Dman who may be marginally better, but will take 2-3 years in the AHL.

Honestly, as a fan, I want the flames to select a forward as well. Always get more excited about a skilled forward with a high ceiling. Depending on how the draft goes, there should be a solid choice between 2-3 forwards like that at the flames pick. I think there will be lots of surprises though and it won’t shock me if more than one of the top defensemen drop out of the top 10.
I think most of us fans are assuming the flames end up with a forward (Sillinger/Coronato/Lucius/etc.). At this point, it will feel like a shock if the flames end up drafting a defenseman with their first pick.

And for a team and a fanbase that thinks they lack scoring depth, taking a skilled scoring fw only makes the most sense.

It's no lock that Sillinger will be available to the Flames. I think we should all prepare for a few surprises in the first few rounds of the draft but Sillinger geting picked before the Flames shouldn't be as he's been getting a lot of positive buzz of late.

Logan Mailoux has been placed on multiple team's do not draft list after an incident where he took a picture of a consenting girl performing oral sex on him without her knowledge and shared the picture along with the girl's online profile with his teammates in Sweden.
According the article he could have gone from 15 to 72nd OA according to a random sampling of some nhl team's draft boards.
Also important to note that Mailoux was 17 years old at the time of incident (the girl was 18) and is giving permission for the story to be published.

The response from several NHL teams has been clear. At minimum, the Arizona Coyotes, Chicago Blackhawks, New York Rangers and Toronto Maple Leafs are believed to be among the teams with no plans to select Mailloux under any circumstance. The list is likely longer than four teams, as six teams did not interview Mailloux at all, which would seemingly indicate their lack of interest in him.
“We’re trying to put a team on the ice people can be proud of and support,” one NHL team front office member said, when asked about Mailloux. “We’ll build a less efficient roster, if need be, to make sure that is the case in our community.”

Someone will take him. Just later than usual. Not to minimize what he did but other draftees have done far worse and been drafted.
This is a maturity issue to me. And a hard learning lesson of the power of social media. Crazy that if he didn't add her profile to the picture he sent it'd be no big deal.

That's a bad mistake and probably will cost him a lucrative career.
I am not sure it should, but it probably will.

Yeah I have no doubt that there are guys in this draft and recent drafts that have done more derogatory things to their sexual partners, but after Mitchell Miller I can see a situation where this might lead to Mailloux not being drafted.
Especially now that this story is now out in the main stream media. The team that ends up drafting him are immediately going to have a lot of attention and stories published that will overshadow their other draft picks and moves they may make at the draft.

I prefer Sillinger, but getting Svechkov-Pinelli-Doan would be an excellent outcome for our future imo.

I'm all for forgiveness, but I don't want to be the team in the position to forgive.

Oh I know. And I get that his stock is rising. But knowing the pedigree and especially after meeting the kid today (he’s a specimen) I’m firmly in the “hope he’s there at 12” camp.

I hope so. After really thinking about the Gio discussion, we don’t have anything in the pipeline for top pairing dmen. Other than valamaki I’m not sure we even have a top 4 dman in the prospect pool. I’m hoping one of the d drop and flames snag them.
