So give him 8. You get more of his prime.

What's the big deal?

You get ages 24 to 32 of Tkachuk at $9 million AAV? I think you jump on that if you are the Flames.

You are hearing of contracts to power forward UFAs that take them to age 35 plus. That's a much more risky contract than locking Tkachuk up.

Feel like the tampering in the league has been a joke for a few years now. Glad to see media talking about it openly.

Seravalli says that based on the conversations he has had with people around the league he is floored by the amount of tampering that is going on. It feels like to him that there is more tampering going on this year between teams and potential free agents.

Friedman agreed with Seravalli that it seems like tampering is up this year but is careful to go into the subject because he doesn't want to be "radioed" with people claiming that he is accusing Team X of tampering.

Someone was trying to argue with me that Reinhart was more valuable than Tkachuk or Gaudreau cause he could talk to teams without fear if tampering, I think tampering is just business as usual.

What do they construe as tampering??? That's a substantial charge that needs more than some vague statement.

Pretty sure it's plain old talking to players under contract before the official courting period begins.

It’s not a charge. They aren’t accusing anyone specifically of doing anything.

they were talking about teams reaching out to pending free agents before the start of free agency.

Like they said they know this goes on every year, but to them it feels like it is much more than in previous years.

Isn't the work around to that is just asking teams for permission? Hasn't there already been a few players being granted permission to speak to other teams? Like Shalunov from CHI? And I think Hyman too.

They said teams will go to an agent and be like “we are looking for a Left shot dman who can play 21 minutes a night” without naming names but everyone knows who he represents

One player (among others) the Coyotes are very much trying to move is pending RFA Conor Garland. No contract discussions since end of season, belief is team’s preference is to move him. BOS, TOR, LA, FLA, SEA and more clubs have checked in. - David Pagnotta

Maybe Dube+ ?

Tough to add another undersized forward with Gaudreau, Mang, Dube, and (presumably) Ryan on the roster with Pelletier and Phillips pushing for spots.

Shoots right though, and fills a need on the RW. I'm sure Brad is poking around.

Yup, I hope so too. The Flames are in no position to add an overpriced piece to go for it. This isn't a situation where they don't have too many overpriced and/or long term contracts on the books already. I hope ownership saves their money this year and applies it in a couple seasons, after they begin the rerooling process.

That is correct. Hyman has been given permission to speak to other teams.

In Shalunov’s, case, they want him to find a team interested in trading for him.
