My girls struggled with that road block pretty badly. They were in great position getting there, but just didn't do well at that particular road block. But I picked them 6th and in the first two legs they've finished 6th. So they're right where they should be, plus they were mean to the midget. Good pick by me.

Bumped for what hopefully will be a good episode tonight. All these teams are just too competitive for it not to be exciting TV

Well my girls do the detour without even finding the clue. Didn't cost them anything but time though as they came in 4th and were still 4th when they did show up. Not too surprised with who lost this episode. They say next weeks finish will have people talking...Does that mean Rob and Amber screw up??

Damn it. I knew my team wouldn't win, but I was hoping they could at least beat the team with the midget.

Another good one in the books. I cannot believe that the beauty queens were able to do that. They got so lucky.
I can't believe that my team dropped down 3 spots to 5. And by the time that this is over Rob and Amber are going to have more prizes then the money that they could have won.

It was the same thing the first time they were in the race. I believe they won 5 or 6 of the legs. The thing is though that in this race one mistake can cost you the race which is what happened to them in the final leg of their series. It doesn't help when everyone is gunning for them.

Not surprised to see Kentucky eliminated. They just aren't great racers when on their own.

Uchenna and Joyce are not getting much screen time...they must last quite a while.

It usually means at the end of next weeks show we'll all be asking ourselves "what was all the hype about?"

How long was the time penalty? I stopped watching after the first 3 teams hit the mat. I wanted to see what happened to them but I forgot. I figured they would have to go back and get that clue???? I recall that happening to Uchenna and Joyce in their season...

I remember watching the first time that Rob and Amber were on the show and they were dominant. They were on the way to a pretty easy win and were on a plane that the last team had missed when the airline re-opened the gate and let them on costing Rob and Amber the win. At that point I thought it was pretty cheesy and probably the producers of the show begged the airline to re-open the gate so that they would have a close finish instead of a walk away.

No "penalty" as they had completed all the tasks necessary and the way they were supposed to. They just had to go back and find the clue so they had all the clues and then check in. It's happened before. One of these times it will happen on a leg where the team has to drive 50 miles to the pitstop instead of just a couple of miles.

Which probably means their ratings suck and they're grasping, so the need to generate unfounded hype?

I've noticed that Survivor is talking about the descision that a tribe memeber makes that will have people talking. So far 4 weeks in and nothing that I'd talk about.

Perhaps reality T.V. has finally run it's course and even Amazing Race and Survivor are on the verge of going off the air.

Network reality TV perhaps, but at the same time elsewhere on the tube, further up the channels, reality TV is just reaching its peak quality wise. Shows like Survivorman, Dirty Jobs, Mythbusters, The Deadliest Catch, The Rig, The Long Way Round and some of the shows on Food like Kitchen Nightmare, and on and on. Basically stuff on Discovery/OLN/TLC - just great shows on almost 24/7.

People slam reality TV all the time (and with good reason when talking about the network stuff) but just like all TV there are good reality TV shows and bad reality TV shows.

I still enjoy Survivor, though not nearly as much as I used to.

Well I think for specialty networks like TLC, Discovery, OLN reality type T.V is their Staple. These aren't mainstream channels looking to generate big time advertising revenue as they are cable/sattelite channels who are subscription based. One could argue that it was these networks who pioneered reality type shows and than the networks took the idea and maybe over did it. Lets face it network T.V. caters to a somewhat finiky clientele who are quick to jump on things, but lose interest when the next fad comes along. I still like Amazing Race...but I probalby could live without it and learn a lot more watching the Travel channel.

Well really there are 2 types of reality TV, the type where people go on and make an idiot of themselves (american idol, etc.) and the type where they show peoples lives (Dirty jobs etc.) Really the ones that fall into the first category are mainly contests and game show types and the others are closer to regular TV shows.
I am not a big fan of the first type but I love the amazing race mainly because of the fact that they travel the world and it is not stuck on an island or something.

I cannot believe that I am typing this but Kipperfan you have been eliminated from the race. From first to worst. Shocking.
But on the bright side I got in first this week!

From this weeks show I am wanting to go to the end of the world as well. It looks really nice and I think that it would be cool to go there just to say that I went to the ends of the earth.

Couldn't have happened to a more deserving team. I am shocked that CBS didn't rig ti so they would at least make it to the final. I thought for sure they would win so CBS and Rob and Amber could milk some more undeserved spotlight.

Great to see those losers gone.

Yeah, I bough a travel book about 5 months ago and was looking at a trip down to South America to a lot of the places they've been to so far. From Ecador to Pantagonia and to the exact places they've gone on this race in Puerto Mont, Punta Arenas, and Ushaiua.

I can't believe Rob & Amber lost to the midget....That picks the sleeper pick of the race, worst you'll do with that pick is 7th!

Just goes to show that even the strongest racers can have a bad leg and be eliminated. Which is how the race should be. It's too bad they provided some good entertainment. They are the most aggressively competitive racers (who were also good racers) to ever be on the show. I think Uchenna summed it up well "it was just good healthy competition with Rob and Amber". Not surprising they were eliminated on a leg that did not have physical tasks but involved reading, writing and comprehension..Rob's weakest points.

And really I have no problems with them popping up everywhere. If someone was willing to pay me money or give me the opportunity to win $1 million dollars just for being me, well I'd do it as well. And the thing was, they've had a couple of other gimicky teams before but Rob and Amber were quite simply very good racers. They showed they belonged on the race. And really every person on that race has some sort of back story that 99% of the viewing public doesn't have and it is why they are on the show.

Spoiler in the link below. DO NOT CLICK IT IF YOU DON'T WANT TO KNOW THE FINAL THREE TEAMS. I had it sent to me and clicked on it not knowing it was a spoiler. After last nights elimination it looks like it is legit. Or the guy got really lucky as he's 4 for 4 on the eliminations. You have been warned.

SPOILER ALERT. SPOILER ALERT. SPOILER ALERT.

Well it looks like Uchenna and Joyce dodged that bullet last night. They played a bad leg and came out of it. I cannot believe that Charla and Merna are in first, especially since they had so much trouble on the road block. Jeez last week Rob and Amber get eliminated and then they come in first. It is like we are living in bizarro world.

Yeah, I certainly wouldn't have bet $1 even with 50 to 1 odds that Charla and Mirna could win a leg, let alone do it without the aid of a fast forward.
