So...on this note...what is the current status of the CBA?
Are there likely any compliance buyouts on the Horizon?

Because the Cap looks like its staying flat for a while and there are a number of clubs who are going to be completely screwed.

We're going to have to go with a 14-man roster at some point or start breaking some thumbs for LTIR relief.

Not really comparable to other teams given the structure of the expansion draft. Must be nice to have a MAF or Lindberg fall into your lap.

That chart was salary cap era hence 2003-04 is not included. Bryce also made a version for the four-round playoffs era:
A version breaking things down by eligible seasons would be good too - but not for the Flames or Maple Leafs.

I don't think they have much choice at this moment. They are going to have to move pieces to whomever will take them.

I would take Kane's skill on the Flames but that contract and his baggage are huge red flags.

Just get Ottawa to trade for him and then flip him to us! You know Ottawa would love that opportunity.

Hate to say it.. but that chart can actually get worse. Combine the last 6 seasons, and the Flames can't add enough W's to equal another series win.

It is kind of stupid for saying that Treliving should be fired for re-signing Ritchie, or looking into how to keep Giordano (you know, without actually having it happen and then fairly judged on how much it took to keep Giordano). It is, however, not so stupid to openly wonder how Treliving has not been canned given how much was spent over the years in draft capital and buyouts, and only having that amount of success to speak of.

This I can get behind.

Yes, I voted he should be fired, but it’s really not over any single thing, just a general lack of success and a current situation that isn’t optimistic.
