Panel seems to like it and suggested they may have scooped the Yankees

Seems like TJ is more of a fact of life for pitchers nowadays rather than the career ending surgery it used to be. Good call by the Jays, also their bonus pool money is reduced from their Springer signing so likely easier to put to pen to paper when the prospect has “question marks”

I mean. You can't go wrong with a pitcher named Gunnar anyways. So sounds like a great pick.

Fangraphs and FiveThirtyEight both have Jays' playoff odds at 34% going into the All-Star break. Lots of runway left of course, but a sustained winning streak will definitely be required. It is nice to be in the thick of things, but I'm starting to hope the Jays don't do anything drastic at the deadline - could be too much risk for the position they are sitting in right now.

Agreed, only make a big move if you can keep the asset for next season.

Atkins and co are fairly dogmatic about years of control, “flexibility”, waves of prospect growth, and sustained competitiveness. I would be surprised if the Jays did anything that would be perceived as mortgaging future success.

With Acuna out for the year, the Jays should trade Grichuk to Atlanta.

You potentially lose Siemen and Ray next year. Pretty tall task in replacing them and not being worse off.

If you can't find a trade for one of them then DFA Spanky or send Jansen down. Their values aren't going to go up and the teams chances to win are suffering as a result.

Nothing worse than a scrub player having 2 good weeks and then Buck and Pat forgetting the guy is terrible and having to hear about the new 'Reese' for the next months while his average drops back to .220.

Vladdy making a run at All-Star game MVP. A monster solo Homerun and 2 RBI.
Jays representing so far. Teo, Semien, and Vladdy a combined 3-7 with 3 RBI. Bo yet to play.

Real victim complex going on here.

It's so awesome that he got the MVP! It's such a shame that they can't play any games in Canada. Fans are really missing out.
