It’s the convenient timing of his return that has everyone upset. Yes, he had surgery and had a recovery time but if his return was one week earlier, Tampa would have not been cap compliant. He was practicing with the team for over a month before returning. If he had been activated off of LTIR any earlier than he did, the team would have been over the cap.

It seems to be the consensus that the lightning have circumvented the cap using this process. Everything they’ve done has been within the rules because the team had it in their back pocket to say when he is ready to be activated. “Back to full health” is a subjective term based on them deciding when he is fully and completely back to game shape. He could have been fully healed from the surgery for a long time, but the term “game shape” was likely how they kept him on LTIR for exactly as long as they wanted… and not a minute earlier.

"They gave the vezina to whoever that guy from Vegas.."

So funny how little respect he gives to Fleury lol.

Would piss myself watching MAF's reaction.

What a boring final, wow. So many potential cool stories this playoffs. But ultimately the team with the cap equivalent of 2-3 extra star players cruised to the Cup. Who the **** could have predicted that exciting storyline?

Yawn, and on to the next season.

Yeah, it was cap circumvention all the way.

That Isles series is pretty close sans Kucherov's offense. Aka a cap compliant Tampa Bay team.

That was a great presser by Kucherov. The league needs more stars ready to talk smack about others at any given moment. When you win the cup, you can say whatever the #### you want, wearing whatever you want (or lack thereof), and you can drink/sniff whatever you want. Good on him. Love the butthurt on this site and on other social media sites. Good stuff.

Not even upset that TBL won because they are a dynasty in the making with such an incredible core that I can only dream of having here.

You do realize that the Flames lost to both teams, so which team were you cheering for?

I have no issues with Kucherov giving a shirtless drunk interview after winning the cup. But calling out other teams fans (who are the reason you make the money you do, it’s not the people in Florida) is garbage. He should be fined for that.

At least the Flames are the only team to push Tampa to 7 games in the cup finals

Pain. So much pain.

Positives:

####ing Alex Burrows doesn’t win a cup

Montreal doesn’t win another cup

Flames remain the only team in history to win on Montreal ice
But poor Montreal really needed their 25th Cup!

Disagree...a bit of player/fan rivalry is great for the sport. I remember Theo going into the Shark Tank.

No need to fine a guy....not a fan of cancel culture because a fan bases feelings may be hurt for a comment on how they celebrate...

Meh, fans have no issue gathering their keyboard army online and trashing a player themselves in droves. It's give 'n' take. Dish it out, be prepared to receive it.

And last time I checked, the owners in TB are paying his salary. No 'fan' pays any player's salary. Owners do.

The fans pay his salary as the CBA as the salary cap is a certain percentage of hockey related revenues, which in the NHL is predominantly gate/ticket driven. A lot of the revenue comes from north of the border and the Canadian teams.

to me his shade is slightly misdirected as i am sure part of the reason people in montreal were whooping it up was because it is summer in canada, and there have been a lot of shutdowns here with people staying away from each other - so this run by the Habs gave them a chance to come together.

I can have a soft spot for how Habs are feeling right now despite those 24 cups… it’s been more years since they’ve won the total cups they have now so really those cups are more of a historic thing at this point. Most young to middle aged fans of Canadian teams have lived their whole lives with no championships and hardly much excitement. This was the first Canadian team in the finals since 2010… even though the percentages obviously favour American teams winning the cup most years a near 30 year drought for any Canadian team to bring it back up north seems almost inconceivable yet here we are.

Here’s to a flames cup next year though!

Chirping the fans was a ###### bag move, but nothing the league needs to intervene on.

Next year he will get booed everytime he touches the puck and they will cheer every time he gets hit. Problem solved.

Not sure why he went there, but he did. Welcome to a new rivalry.
