Not many players can break Berretini when he serves like this

Felix crumpled - seems like every second rally is long or in the net for him

It is coinciding with Berrettini stepping up his level of play, though. As NF mentioned above, you can't do much when Matteo is serving bombs in the corner or down the 'T'.

The last game is so frustrating, Felix looked to have a chance at love-30, four big serves later and it's another hold for Matteo.

He hasn't crumpled. There's simply nothing anyone can do about this type of play. He played two great points to get it to 0-30 and then three straight unreturnable (by anyone but Djokovic, maybe) serves.
Felix has nothing to be ashamed of here.

Berrettini might have a prayer against Novak if he has a God-tier serving day.

You should challenge everytime the chair overrules.

Random question - do the ATP rankings only consider matches won and lost, or does it also consider strength of competition and duration of matches?

Matteo is a easy guy to root for and if he makes the final (which I think he will), he will have a good chance to take the title.

Finger lady at W2019 is the only Fed fan that's happy about Fed getting bagled. Probably.

Felix should hold his head up high after this tournament, this is only his 2nd Wimbledon. He's 5 years younger than Berretini and will improve rapidly as he ages.

That said, well done Felix, taking out Zverev whom he had never beaten before and giving Berrettini a heck of a battle is very good stuff. Hold your head high FAA.

you gain points by how many rounds you advance in a tournament. ATP tour events are worth anywhere from 250 to 2000 points, which is the maximum points you can gain for winning the whole thing. rank of opponent or length of match are not taken into account, just win and get the pre-determined number of points for that round.

Pft, we're all too good at comedy around here for that low-hanging fruit.

Fed won't announce a retirement tour, he's already talked to someone who did that and they said they wished they hadn't. he'll just play until one day he's had enough, but I still believe he wants one more calendar year with normal travel and crowds. his presser obviously provided no conclusive info.

I agree. She is fantastic. Just matter-of-fact, but backs it up with unparalleled knowledge.

I think he's got a lot of thinking to do. Does he want to keep playing just to keep playing? If so then it should be a quick decision that he's back. But if he wants to compete for, and win, big events again it's going to be a mega ask for someone who is 40 with absolutely nothing to prove. The grind is only going to get more difficult going forward, his ability to recover between matches tougher, the "waking up on the wrong side of the bed" days more frequent. And if he really wants it again playing a reduced schedule will only hurt more, he needs matches to stay sharp and not month long breaks.
