Nah man, straight up magic and coincidence. The miraculous recovery of Tampa's leading PO scorer and the Lightning being $18M above the cap at the exact perfect time have NOTHING AT ALL to do with one another. How DARE you assume otherwise!

Tampa is the better team but a huge difference in this series is that Vasilevski has outplayed Price pretty substantially.

How would you have dealt with Kucherov’s surgery and recovery? Just rolled the dice and not signed a couple RFAs?
I’ve no doubt they took their time bringing him back. I think it probably made all of a couple weeks difference.
Now, the overall issue is whether you should be able to ice a team above the cap during the POs. I’m not sure how much the Bolts actual lineup is over the cap (it ain’t 18 million because that number includes Gaborik and Nilsson). But maybe the rule should just be you can’t do it. You don’t get penalized for having the contracts because your injured player came back. But you have to ice an actual compliant team.

Petry not going down to block that last empty netter is telling of where the energy levels are.
He doesn’t have enough left to fall down, because that would mean getting back up.
This is an exhausting way to play hockey.

The actual line up is $8.5M over the cap believe.

Can’t imagine how frustrating it is for a team to battle to get to the SCF and go 0-3 or 0-4

So my fix would be that they (and the Habs and every other team) have to dress a compliant team. That would sting for TBL - but they’d likely just have sat Johnson, Killorn and McBackup in favour of low salary players.

What is the rationale for the extra day off between games 3 and 4?
Weird to bump to a Monday instead of Sun. Or to not make the extra day between games 2-3 and go Sat&Mon...

Boston's was probably similar since they acquired Taylor Hall at the deadline and his salary was pro-rated

Has Tampa made any lineup changes since game 7 against the Islanders?

MTL's only hope now is some monumental change in momentum- key TB injury, Schiefele level suspension etc. So, their only hope is a miracle, because TB doesn't play emotional and is too stacked, even if one guy goes down.
Thought MTL would make this one closer being at home, at worst a one goal loss, at best an OT win. They are toast.

Tonight Killorn was out. That’s all I can think of.

This has to be one of the most boring and predictable Cup finals I can remember. I was hoping the Habs would at least make things interesting, but Tampa is just too stacked.

Possibly to avoid playing on July 4.
In normal seasons, they tend to play the Final on a Monday, Wednesday, Saturday, Monday, Wednesday, Saturday, Monday schedule (although, not always starting on a Monday, so Game 7 can sometimes land on a Wednesday). I believe they typically do that to avoid overlapping with the NBA but I'm not sure if it's the same reason this year.

That's because it isn't competitive hockey.
One solid team, one disjointed and pouty team taking out frustrations.
I knew MTL wouldn't be cut out to face the eastern champ.
