He's not coming to Calgary. This is Seattle.

It kind of fits like a puzzle piece.

Really comes down to the extra asset you get for taking Keith at various stages of cap retention.
Our defensive corps' fancy stats last year:

Gio: EV CF% 53.8 EV Fen 54.5% PDO 100.5

Tanev: EV CF% 55% (!) EV Fen 56.5% PDO 101.4

Hanifin: EV CF% 52.0 EV Fen 51.6% PDO 98.5

Andersson: EV CF% 49.9% EV Fen 48.5% PDO 98.5

Valimaki: EV CF% 54.1% EV Fen 52.9% PDO 99.5

Stone: EV CF% 54.3% EV Fen 53.5% PDO 98.6

Nestorov: EV CF% 51.7% EV Fen 50.8% PDO 97

Kylington: EV CF% 54.7% EV Fen 51.1% PDO 99.3

Duncan Keith: EV CF% 45.1% EV Fen 43.8% PDO 89.0

I don't think Keith is good enough to play here.

I’m guessing Edmonton.

I don’t think it’ll be Seattle based on the defencemen available to them in the draft and Friedman’s reporting that they want to maximize cap space.

Calgary doesn’t make sense, at all.

Dhaliwal says no to Vancouver.

I doubt it is Calgary, and I do not want him here.

However, my mind may change depending on what the trade ends up being structured as.

Calgary receives:

50% retention
2nd round pick
mid-tier prospect
Keith waiving his NMC for the expansion (won't get claimed)

Chicago receives:

Future considerations. I would send a poor contract back at equal money, but I don't think the Flames have one other than Lucic.

Cap hit is still too expensive for a 7th D. Not fond of that trade I just guessed at, and I doubt Chicago is willing to do it.

Sounds like a leaked story from whatever team trades for him who will inevitably overpay.

Oh and Canadian media will spin no matter the trade as a massive win cause he won years ago.

Monahan + 3rd for Kane & Keith both 50% retained.

Keith flipped to the Oilers for a 1st.

If this isn’t Winnipeg I would be extremely surprised. I know a few of his family who are here.

There was actually some guy on the Oiler's radio call in show when they lost to Winnipeg that said he was positive Keith was going to the Oilers and that he had connections, maybe the guy was on to something.

Yeah the oilers and the Edmonton media are cojoined so it's the same. Imagine what he could do with a top Stanley cup contender like the oilers, OMG I can't say that with a strait face.

Sutter loves veteran Dmen and if Gio ends up in Seattle I would not be shocked to see Keith in Calgary. If the Flames are able to get some retention.

This will be hated by some:

Monahan for Strome, Keith (2M retained)+ 2nd

Gio is gone to Seattle. The Flames basically replace Monahan and Gio for Strome and Keith which is a downgrade but for next season the Flames gain 6.75M in cap space.

Can't Keith just become allergic to his equipment and go on LTIR?

I wonder if Chicago consummates the deal after the Expansion draft, so Chicago uses a spot on him to be able to get a better return. That is if the team getting him is not Seattle.

Sounds like he wants to play out his contract though (or at least the first year). This is not about him retiring, but finishing off his career close to home.

Winnipeg doesn't make any sense at all given what has been reported about his desires to move.
