Keith is 37 and signed for 2 more seasons at 5.5 cap hit with very low salary (2.1 and 1.5).

If a team isn't worried about the cap hit, it wouldn't be terrible.

Logically, Seattle.

Keith is a 3rd pairing vet D with leadership and big game experience at this point.

He’s not replacing anyone of note. His offense has dried up and his fancy stats haven’t been good for 3+ years.

That being said, Edmonton was playing Kris Russell and Ethan Bear in their elimination game against the Jets - Keith is an upgrade on both those players.

Chicago isn’t contending in the next two years either - some retention on the cap is no doubt on the table.

If the trade is happening now, the destination is probably Seattle, since they wouldn't have to worry about protection slots

Do you think Seattle would take Keith from whoever gets him over some other, younger piece?

If it’s not Vancouver I can see him wanting to end his career playing with McDavid as a checkbox item. That’d be the only incentive from a hockey perspective for him fine with leaving Chicago. Plus it suits Edmonton’s back end needs. Who would be going the other way salary wise though?

Full cap retention and a pick for something could be Tree move.

For me that pick can't be lower than a second. Keith is completely washed.

I don't think Keith could give two ####s about mcdavid.

Probably thinks he's a primadonna chump after watching his most recent floaty playoff effort that we saw.

I think the incentive is already pretty clearly stated. He'll go wherever his gm can facilitate a deal to.

This has Sutter written all over it. Think he would gladly have him on the flames for leadership and to “show” what it takes to win.

I put show in parenthesis because I think Keith is pretty washed up.

Yeah it is really hard to imagine that a trade will occur right now unless it is to Seattle, or Keith agrees to waive his NMC for the acquiring team for the expansion draft

Yeah, an overaged former impact player being picked up to give the team "grit" and a can do attitude in exchange for picks and prospects is such a head in the sand flames move I am already imagining the jerseys at Fanatic.

It's like us flames fans promised the flames we would always support them and the flames took that as a challenge

Well, if you're losing Gio in expansion, then Keith comes in and buffers the 3rd pairing at a much reduced cap hit.

It kind of fits like a puzzle piece.

Really comes down to the extra asset you get for taking Keith at various stages of cap retention.
