I don't get why anyone here wouldn’t cheer for Montreal or Ottawa to win the Stanley Cup if they made it to the finals.
All western Canadian teams, yes frigg them. Toronto even if some of us don’t hate the team, we hate the media and their fans so them winning would never be acceptable due to the agonizing aftermath.
But the Habs and Sens I just don’t get why we wouldn’t rally behind them?
Maybe some of the older guys who still remember the 80’s battles we once had with the Habs but otherwise why not cheer for them?

I remember how classy Montreal fans were when we won the cup in their building. Stayed with courteous applause while the Flames celebrated.
I have no issue cheering for Montreal in this situation.

That's not really the same. That was a shooting at a massive parade. A couple days after they won. Not really sure it has much of a connection to them winning.
Habs thing is a bunch of people wearing Habs jerseys flipping over a police car the night of the win to advance.
Win or lose they will riot even more.

Go Habs Go !!!

Had a great chat with my almost 75 year old Dad last night as well. I have fuzzy memories of cheering for Guy Lafleur, Ken Dryden, Larry Robinson et al back in the 70's. We're having a great time during this run.

I don't like Quebec because it has some of the most racist people in Canada.

No kidding, I hate it when people stereotype an entire group based on ethnicity.

My dad is a Bruins fan so growing up cheering for Montreal was a huge no-no. I make an exception though when they play Vancouver or Edmonton.
Ottawa is the only other Canadian team I would cheer for. I know too many cocky Jets fans to cheer for them.
I'm hoping the Islanders win tonight so I don't have to worry about hoping the Dolts win another Cup.

Yep.
Perfect outcome is the Islanders beating the Habs for the Cup.

Followed by TB beating them (I hate the TBL, but really how many people do I know that cheer for TB? literally 0).
Montreal did what I asked of them, they can go now.

I did not pay attention to this yesterday, but since they've gotten Clarence Campbell BOwl, what was printed on their caps? Western Conference Champions???

My sister and her husband are Quebecers, and they're amazing people. You'd be lucky to know them.
In short...stop now before you dig a hole too deep to climb out of.

Generally speaking, I agree with you..
Ottawa is the only other Canadian team I actively like and wouldn’t mind seeing win.
Winnipeg I liked at first but have grown to not like. They are in our conference so I will never cheer for them to do anything other than beat Edmonton.
The Habs I’m not crazy about but now that they are here I can’t help but root for them.
If TB loses tonight I will be happy with whoever wins the Cup because it won’t be Vegas or TB. Still will lean towards the Habs but won’t be too butt hurt with the Islanders taking home the championship.
