It still doesn't compute for me, other than "lightning in a bottle". Its super strange to see the Knights wilt after their series vs Colorado. Nothing makes sense.

Hell (pun intended), the deal with the devil theory may have some legs.
Because the NHL the way the current game is Mickey Mouse with how random it has become. No other ‘major’ (I hesitate to use that term to describe the junk that is the NHL product) league would have an expansion team as one of the best. Or have a last team place halfway through the season win the championship. To boot Montreal winning it all would be hilarious. What a crappy team. It’s funny.

Just incredibly casual play from the Knights. You'd like to see some evidence that they know they're in an important playoff game.

Vegas has 14 shots. Were outshot last game too. Their powerplay is anemic...and yet the beat Colorado in 4 straight.

Vegas PP is so badly shaken.

Slow as molasses making puck decisions and execution is awful.

Zero confidence, which happens when you do things wrong over and over again.

Who's a leaguewide recognized 1st line forward on Montreal?

What is the model that teams would emulate should they win?

Have a top goalie, otherwise just splurge on UFAs and roll the dice?

It's ####ed.

Are we talking about Vegas or Calgary?

Momentum plays such a massive role in the playoffs.

A goalie like Price lives in teams heads and lends to boatloads of confidence in the team in front of him

I'm less and less sure how "crappy" Montreal are.

I don't think the Flames have anyone as good as Danault.

I'm not sure if the Flames have anyone as good as Suzuki at this point.

Caufield, Toffoli, Staal, Gallagher,.... I mean, not chumps.

And a blueline led by one of the best ever.

And a good goalie.

yeah they didn't play good this season and the Flames looked equal, but.... man, seeing these guys play VGK tight... I think Mtl looks a lot better than the Flames, period.

And yet, didn't look better than the Flames in any game against them. I guess we just had their number or something.

Maybe the Flames will be the only ones that can stop them next year.

Obviously, lots of credit to Price.

That does not make up for the awful performances of the Vegas top forwards.

How many goals do they have in the series?

That’s the story 5v5 and on the PP.

Yeah I really don't know. I remember the games during the season, and really thought "well it doesn't matter between Flames and Canadiens who gets in, cuz they are fodder".

But seeing THIS Montreal team... man they look like they'd eat the Flames alive. Quick, determined, very good zone exits and fast hard puck retrieval.

The Habs regular season record was deflated by OT/SO losses. They are a good team 5 on 5.

I think it is time to talk about how Vegas doesn't have a superstar lineup outside of Peitrolangelo and maybe Stone. The rest are showing their 3rd or 4th line ability.

I don't like Vegas being exempt for this expansion but is it their fault other gms were completely brain dead in the expansion draft? Vegas is also an easy draw as a city for free agents.

Montreal is bad... Why because of their regular season record? When's the last time the dominant regular season team went far into the playoffs?

The Pacioretty trade hurts in hindsight. Suzuki is the better player at a drastically reduced salary.

I think its partly how teams are built and match up. Ottawa was not an easy team to play against, regardless of their record. Montréal was always competitive without price playing a bunch this year, and is probably the most rested he's been in a long time.
