the guys on Fan consistently prove they know nothing at all, so I take their squashing of this rumor as indication of its veracity.

I have heard that Boomer and Treliving are more than just media-GM. They have an 'outside of work' friendship as well.
....and we know how 'in' Rhett is with Conroy.
To say they know nothing at all is asinine. They are very in with this organization.

lol if that's the case then boomer is either spreading or being fed #### by Treliving.
Conroy's got a big mouth, but we've already heard from it that Treliving doesnt listen to him much (or perhaps tell him everything...)

So we are inclined to believe Shane O'Brien, who was really just spitballing about a Tarasenko trade.
Over our own media guys that are close to the team just because?
I'm sure Tkachuk would love to play for St.Louis, honestly it's felt imminent to me that it would happen at some point going back to the love he got when the all-star game was in St.Louis.
But that doesn't mean he's asked for or demanded a trade.

Boomer has proven to be credible with some of the things he's said in the past. Not sure why people are questioning that.

Honest question (don't be offended), do you think you know more than they do?

Just a fanbase rabidly waiting for the shoe to drop.
It'll be nice when we get to draft day.

If the Tkachuk wants out rumour is true or not, the Flames better be exploring all options when it comes to him. If the Flames are not going able to re-sign him to a long-term deal, then the sooner they trade him the better value they will get back in trade.
I would love a Tkachuk + for Eichel return. However, am I the only one that thinks that would be idiotic for Buffalo? They have trouble keeping players - why would they want Tkachuk's looming contract issue - one more year + a potential QO acceptance?
Treliving really has his work cut out this off-season. Tkachuk and Gaudreau's contracts, the expansion draft/Giordano issue, trying to find upgrades for the multitude of positions that under-performed last season, a back-up goalie - that's a lot of work for him this off-season, and that's assuming he ends up staying. Did the Flames finish-up their internal review yet?
This is going to be quite the impactful off-season.

Someone called in to ask how the Blues could get rid of Tarasenko and SOB simply said that since he's heard Tkachuk wants to go to the Blues they discussed the swap as a possibility. I don't believe anyone was insinuating that the Flames and Blues have had talks regarding a swap of the players. The only rumor at this point that has any legs is that Tkachuk may want to play for the Blues. The reality is that the Flames will likely have to explore trading Tkachuk over the next calendar year as they can't afford to let him go to free agency.

There's going to be changes. The GM even said as much after the season. It's only a matter of who's leaving and what the return is for the Flames. Not likely to be much going on until after the expansion draft.

Exactly. Who leaves, who comes in, how is this team going to look? Could they end up worse? How many moves will be total head scratchers? Maybe its just me but I'm nervous. Excited but nervous.

I agree. I'm excited for changes to a Flames team that quite frankly I don't like much at all. That said I'm also worried with Darryl's influence that the Flames will be getting older with these trades for the 2 year win-now window which is opposite of what I believe to be ideal. That said maybe the Flames can surprise us and not screw this up. Time will tell.

I'm also just tired of watching this group, but if I had to pick a couple players to keep, Tkachuk would be there. He had a bad year. I'd like to see him drive the culture of this club instead of the group of guys that have been.
Darryl sticking around is not good. It's clear they're not accepting this group isn't it.

I know there are going to be changes. What I'm really struggling to figure out is how the Flames are going to make any meaningful core changes that improve the team immediately.<-- Right or wrong I think this will be the goal for next season.
We would need to get the best player back via F for F trade or make a D for top 6 F trade.
If they can't get Eichel, I honestly think they'll try sign Hyman, draft at 12th and the majority of the roster stays the same. The back-up plan would be to move prospects and draft capital for immediate top 6 help (one winger) and maybe add some size to the D group.

This isn't really possible unless Gio is claimed or the Flames trade a core piece to a team without taking any contracts back.
The Flames can barely sign a backup goalie, Dube, the bottom pairing defensemen, and the 4th line, as is.

I'm torn on whether Sutter is a good or bad thing going forward.
When they hired him at first I was like "yes! kick 'em in the butt, establish an identity and let's go!"
But now I'm a little more concerned about what his style of play/system will actually look like in a 82-game season, and his impact (good or bad) on roster changes.
As for Tkachuk, I'd prefer building a culture around him than around the "it can't be a riot every night" country club bs.
