If I were Seattle's GM I'll select Kylington, but meanwhile I will try to get a free draft pick from BT not to select Gio.

If I were Francis, I’d covet Kylington while threatening the Flames’ irrational attachment to overpaid players well past their prime. I totally expect a successful ransom paid to protect Gio that won’t amount to a hill of beans in the upcoming season, as the Flames desperately cling to the naive belief that the answers are currently in the room.

Is Seattle barred from signing Ryan right before the season starts? Couldn't they just handshake the deal.

Don't the Flames have to sign at least one player before the expansion draft anyways? Makes sense to re sign Ryan dirt cheap at that point.

Heavily speculated that Ritchie will be that player eventually signed to fulfill the requirements

Yep, wouldn’t surprise me at all if the Flames throw a 3rd at Seattle to take Kylington.

Seattle can claim Kylington when he's put on waivers in October as they should have first pick of all the players put on waivers at the to start the season.

SOB just now on NHL Network radio threw out a "rumour" about a Tkachuk for Tarasenko deal. It was a quick throw away line but he did say "I heard Tkachuk wants out of Calgary and he would love to play in St. Louis."

If Tkachuk wants out then a lot of teams will be in the bidding. The Blues really do not have the pieces I would want in return.

Yeah this feels about right at this point. But screw his desires if that is the case. Tarasenko for Tkachuk is objectively a horrifyingly poor deal for us.
I believe there was a lot to those rumors of some people in the room telling Tkachuk to settle down early in this season. Whoever that is needs to be vacated from the organization immediately as they are absolutely a cancer. I strongly suspect it was Mark Giordano.

I'm not 100% on this but I believe if Seattle signs Ryan in the window before the expansion draft, then the Flames expansion draft requirements have been met and they wont lose another player.
Edit:
My bad I miss read your post. Sorry about that.

Taking a while to get to 5000
|
I don't know how to feel about SOB, but he's likely connected and legit hears info but he calls Tkachuk "TA-CHUCK" and that is enough to dismiss this one.
Also the obligatory "If Tre trades A for B he should immediately be fired"
This counts.

That’s fine. But there better be a Thomas/Kyrou + a top end prospect attached. Tkachuk’s value >> Tarasenko, and it’s not even close.

I’d rather ship him off to Buffalo if he desperately wanted out. He doesn’t get to choose where he gets to go yet. Be a Flame, or go out east to the worst team in the league. But personally I’d still keep Matthew and hope that his chemistry with Gaudreau and Lindholm keeps him happy enough to stay.

I think it needs to be Thomas+Kyrou+pick
I would rather see what Ottawa would pay to unite the brothers. I would shop him league wide and pull the trigger on the best deal available. Go to all 31 other teams. The Rangers would pay through the nose after being labeled soft.
I am a huge Tkachuk fan and really would hate to lose him but I am not sure he wants to be here long term and if he asks for a trade then the team should not let this cloud hang over them and make the best deal possible

I believe the quote from Elliotte went something like “It can’t be a riot every night.”
Does that sound like something Mark Giordano would say or even the types of words he would use? Gio would probably say something more along the lines of “pick your spots better” rather than “it can’t be a riot every night.” That sounds more like a Rasmus Andersson. He’s got a bit of a mouth on him at times and he’s certainly not the shy type either.
EDIT: For the record though, I like Andersson and I’m not suggesting to trade him. These are grown ass men and I think the press made a mountain out of a molehill as per usual. If anything, he might not be a fan of the coach. That little quip he gave Darryl about the lack of ice time stood out to me.

I am sure being an ex-player gives you some connections so I wouldn't dismiss him outright, but he always struck me as an attention seeker. I think he has a bone to pick with the Flames as well and could just be trying to ruffle feathers.
