I actually think he is an everyday NHL'er, and surprised he didn't stay in the NHL. I didn't really want him on the Flames other than depth, but I thought he was good depth all things considered. I am sure there are some teams out there with worse depth that he could have signed with.

Stone was better, especially under Sutter

Darryl was overusing him for some strange reason but I thought he was a decent enough 6/7th defenseman.

Would not be surprised if Stone and Forbort return. Darryl likes his experienced blueliners

Flames are losing some organizational depth on the blueline.

Will likely lose another defenseman in the expansion draft.

Yes he was. I didn’t mind nesterov. But there were a couple of games towards the end where it looked like he was not all there.

Pretty sure Nesterov can be replaced. Gio would be tougher.

He wasn’t terrible but I am happy he is gone.

If we are going to have a mistake prone LH dman in the lineup it makes more sense for him to be a younger guy with potential.

I liked Nesterov, thought they'd feed him more powerplay time though especially when it was all coming off the rails.

Ah well, depth D men are easy to pluck. Best of luck Nesterov.

Meh. Very replaceable. Forbort only made a million and was a much better player.

Thanks for the effort, best wishes

He was a fine 36, but showed zero upside. Other than 'more depth is better', he is entirely replaceable

Pretty meh to me as well, Thanks Nikita Nesterov. He was in Russia the previous 3 seasons prior to coming here.

I like Michael Stone just because he has that good point shot which surprisingly we didn't see much from the other Flames D.

I agree. i would prefer defencemen that can actually play defence. Look at the four teams left who provides the offense, Tampa has Hedman & Sergachaev, Vegas has Theodore and 33 year old Martinez, Mont has Petry and ?, Islanders have Leddy and ?.

all of the rest of their Dmen are DEFENSEMEN first who quickly move the puck up. If Sutter somehow keeps Gio, Tanev and Hanafin he can add guys like Stone, Forbert and a few other big hard defensemen to fill holes.
