I'd have to say, everytime I fly WestJet (which is almost everywhere within Canada now) Their service is always great. The clerks at the baggage counters always smile and makes me feel so welcome. On a recent flight from Calgary to Toronto, as I was dropping off my baggage at the check-in counter, she noticed that I had an aisle seat from Toronto - Ottawa and asked if I wanted a seat from Calgary to Toronto as well. (Apparently, they had it, but the self check-in thing wasn't showing it).
The Flight attendants on the flights were great.
I lost my baggage as well on the same flight so I went to the baggage counter in Ottawa and they set me up and I gave them a number to call me at and such. I got the phone call a couple hours later, when I picked up it was this giddy voice that tells me my bag is in. I go down to the airport to pick it up and I got $100 Credit on any flight (even though thats standard WestJet policy if u pick it up instead of deliver it). Kudos to them!

On a side note, when I worked as a supervisor at Tim Hortons, I always try to make my staff a little happier (hyper, but not overly) before the shift... I've had probably 1 - 2 small incidents at most, and nothing major, when I worked the year or so of supervising.

I must say, I definitely go out of my way to avoid the big box stores the last 7 or 8 years now. Lets take, for instance, Home Depot. Massive store with a huge inventory and if it is even remotely busy, there will not be a sales associate to help you or answer a question.

I found a smaller lumber store which is part of the Home Hardware chain, which are all locally owned and operated. A friend recommended them to me because of their delivery fee ($10!!) and the lumber prices were usually better than Home Depot/Rona. I was building a huge shed, so keeping costs down was important.

One of my several trips there, I was getting ready to order the lumber for the roof. I had read how to figure out the pitch in my do-it-yourself book, but reading and doing were two totally different things I soon realized. Anyhow, the owner took me back to the yard, found some scrap, and showed me, step-for-step, how to find the pitch I wanted and how to make a template for the rest of the rafters. Kick. Ass.

That 7-11 is AWESOME. You can also collect petro-points AND get a big buck. Plus they still have those things on the pumps where you can walk away and it will keep pumping gas

believe or not I like BestBuy a lot.

everytime walking into the store there will be someone greeting at you, and easily approachable for questions, of course, greet you again when you leave. That's fine enough with me.

Once I was looking for a small battery for garage door opener, but i was wondering around in the video game area checking out new games. this BestBuy girl walked up and ask if i need help finding anything. I showed her the battery, and off she went. Got me my battery while I was staying in video game section playing trail games.
that was all good.

I actually have had good service from Air Canada but I don't know if it's notable because it was good or because it was better than expectations.

One of my best customer service experiences was at Best Buy in Deerfoot Meadows. I was looking into getting a new computer and spoke to the supervisor of the computer department...he spent over half an hour trying to find the best computer to meet my needs. He discouraged me from buying the most expensive computers. He said that Best Buy, unlike Future Shop (who they own), does not pay their employees commission. I was truly amazed by how much patience that he displayed.

Unfortunately, I wasn't ready to buy the computer at that point though and he never put pressure on me to close the sale but I know that I will return there to make further electronics purchases.

I was at Red Lobster next to Motel Village last night and it was jam packed, the place was like a zoo and we waited half an hour for our table, but once seated our waitress treated us like royalty throughout the night, kept our drinks topped up without even asking and had the sweetest smile on everytime she came to check up on us. I haven't had service that great in a Calgary restaurant for as long as I've remembered. I think I will be frequenting that location quite often from now on.

The Repairs counter at MEC was great this weekend. I was trying to retrofit a sternum strap to a non MEC backpack and the guy there totally helped me out. Even took the pack to the back and did some stitching to Macguyver the strap to this pack. All for free. Great service.

Marda Loop Liquor.

I was in there a few years ago picking up some booze for my buddy's stag. I had a brief conversation with the owner/manager. He said, "You're the most cheerful customer I've had all day; here's a shot on the house."

A lil off topic, but I was just in Edmonton this past weekend..flew down to visit OILFAN81 (my bro) and to watch the Oilers lose to the Flames. Anyway, I hadn't been to Alberta in a really long time (over a year and a half) and I notice that the quality of customer service is deteriorating.

However, I was impressed by how nice the employees at the airport were. I was impressed! I was really tired and a lil sick (I guess I didn't look so hot) and they offered to upgrade my seat to a higher class since the flight was only half full.
