I am looking at buying Macromedia Dreamweaver MX 2004 but I don't know much about it.

Do I need to know CODE or is it more like making a webpage on Publisher?

Does any one use it? What do you think?

Are there any better programs out there for WebPages that are affordable?

Thanks for any help

As you can see from a link below, mine needs some work...

Knowing code helps but you dont need to know it to use it as it's just like Microsoft Frontpage only 1000x better.

dreamweaver's great, but remember its not a graphics program. It won't do banners and buttons and 'word art' easily like publisher.

You may also want to consider an online site builder. 99% of them are junk, but this one's not bad: Site2you

Yeah I have been playing with it,

I like it

But I have not worked out how to get on to my http://www.angelfire.lycos.com/ WebPages and how to get the whole webpage I made to work.
With publisher you upload the files and there you go, but now the page goes all crazy if I do that with this program.

How does it work for every one?

with dreamweaver you need to use FTP.
so you need to know how to get to your site using FTP.
If you go sites->edit sites highlight the site you want to edit, and go throug the steps, you can set it up there.

if there's one thing i don't like about dreamweaver, it's setting up and using the ftp feature. it's not as easy as it should be, although it works fine once it's set up. i use a separate ftp program.

i'm not sure if you can even ftp to some of the free sites like geocities or lycos. you might have to use their built-in upload features
