this might be the worst defeat of the season - you can't keep losing games like this and expect the spirits to remain high

They’re not going to magically get better overnight. Even Vlad isn’t very good when on the road and such. They’ve lost a ton of games this year because their bats just couldn’t get one hit when they needed it most or one defensive play when they needed it. Some of it is the personnel but some of it is they need to mature and get better. Would also help if we didn’t have to run Tellez, Biggio and our catchers out there.

I just keep telling myself that this is still a rebuilding team that needs to make adds. 2 years off from a true contender.

If you tolerate mistakes, you teach mediocrity.

But this is so easy to rectify at this point. I get that we can't be going all in or trade significant assets. But how hard is it to trade next to nothing for some help from a struggling team?

I’d have to see some proof here that they tolerate mistakes. We have no idea what’s going on in the clubhouse unless you think the manager yelling from the bench is proof of anything.

These reilef pitchers can only pitch 1 inning?
C'mon Buck that's a freaking silly cop out. You should better than that old man. Expect more from them guy. Don't be such a softie Sportsnet apologist.

Wait. Are you suggesting that Vladdy isn't pulling his weight and not playing well on the road? His splits are incredible on the road. Some of your takes are pretty silly.
The bullpen is the issue. You cant expect to win 10-8 every game.
Edit. Maybe not incredible but still well above average

Hmmm...I agree with most of the rant, but him saying these relief pitchers can only go 1 inning? I'm sorry, but no way. I don't buy that one.

He's saying the opposite. He is saying that this new view that relievers can only go 1 inning, and that they can't go 2 days in a row, is garbage

He’s Bo on the road and Bonds at home. Quite the difference. Not saying he’s not good since he still is obviously but it’s pretty clear the bats on this team have issues in pressure situations. Obviously the bullpen needs help but a team like Boston is easily capable of scoring six runs and whiffing so many times with runners on base is a problem. I was looking up hitting stats on fangeaphs the other day and even though we’re one of the better hitting teams in the majors we are in the high teens in clutch and leverage stats. Now sure a lot of that is random year to year but this year so far we are pretty unclutch batting wise. This would be okay if we had Springer or a healthy bullpen but we don’t and it is costing us games.
