Springer sounds close to a rehab assignment and his bat cannot come soon enough. If I am the Jays I would look into another bat to shore up the bottom half of the order. I just don’t really think Tellez is an MLB level hitter.

I fully agree. I'm watching the Twins like a hawk, as they've arguably been the most disappointing team in the league. An arm like JA Happ or a DH/1B bat like Nelson Cruz could fit this team nicely for a rental.

That other bat will likely be Kirk when he comes back.
Really annoying that we're over two months in and still haven't seen out optimal line up for more than 4 games.

Gabriel Moreno is getting a lot of buzz from baseball America. Some think he will be in the majors before the year is out. I find the thought of a Moreno/Kirk platoon at catcher very exciting. Get them both some ABs at DH too, although that won't be easy if Springer is back and the Jays have all four of Springer, Teo, Grichuk and Gurriel healthy too. Good problem to have though, hopefully it happens.

Good start so far.
I would have slotted Tellez into the #5 spot today, between Hernandez and Grichuk. Tellez LOVES this park.
Oh as I type that, Grichuk gets a hit!
Keep it going boys!

Jays a little unlucky there. That was an absolute rope by Tellez but right into a glove.

Really unlucky with Tellez' line drive there
Only one run, but 35 pitches, so a useful inning

Bichette with a clutch RNI single, then Vladdy with a walk and Richards has thrown 58 pitces and has 5 outs

Jays are teeing off on Richards. The green monster is taking an absolute beating but probably the only thing keeping the Red Sox in this.
And then Grichuk with a pretty terrible AB swinging at a bunch of garbage off the plate.
Fun game so far.

On a night where everyone is hitting it hard off Richards, Gurriel has had 2 pathetic at bats

Ya what in the world was that last one. First pitch swinging into a weak little ground out? Frustrating.
Gabe Moreno continues to do amazing things at AA. Now hitting .385 with a .430 on base. Pretty incredible AND he is a catcher. This Austin Martin, Moreno, Samad Taylor, Groshans crop in AA is very exciting.

FFS...
the Jays get Richards into the 70s on the pitch count in the 3rd inning, and now 3 of the last 5 batters have gotten themselves out on the 1st pitch. That is just stupid baseball.
Annnd then Vladdy says enough of that and smashes another one off he wall
####! Then Hernandez gets himself out on the 1st pitch. #### me, Montoyo is supposed to be there to teach these guys.

4 batters that inning, 3 of them out on 1 pitch. When the pitch count coming into the inning was at 79. Ugh!!
