I don't. I love Tony from Richmond and I was sad he left. But there is this current push to think of him as more than he is, especially from Canucks fans looking to hate on Benning. The guy was 6 - 7 - 8 on our Depth Chart in the play-offs. Guys like Fantenberg had lept over him on merit of play. He just wasn't fast enough.

Pretty sure that's not what I said at all. Pretty sure I said I was incredibly sad to see Tanev go but that deal was two years too long and for two million too much. In fact if you go back, I spent the entire Tanev signing thread praising him and saying that Flames fans were going to absolutely love him, especially in years one and two.
Hamonic did the same job that Tanev was going to do for much less money. It made sense at the time and makes sense now.

.
Dmen like Tanev when they hit UFA don't go for 2 years at $2.5M.
Dmen like Hamonic do go for 1 year at $1.25M though.
Same job? Just not anywhere close to being as good.

Well you pay better people higher wages, the job may be the same but execution and quality are very different.

Harmonic was part of the reason the Canucks were out of it 2 weeks into the season

Safe to say Mangiapane is in the “play driver” category? I think only he and Gaudreau have that title.
Reason why I bring that up is Brown not being one.

He was fine with Hughes. Hughes defensive numbers getting better as the season went on had a lot to do with Hamonic getting up to game speed after such an extended period off.

That doesn't even make sense. We didn't pay a kings ransom for Bennett. Plus, he not only lived up to expectations, he far exceeded them somewhere else.

To be fair to Blaster this wasn't the case with Tanev at all.
He was trying to talk me off the ledge at the time of the signing I think.
Now his point that Hamonic does the same job as Tanev in this thread....that's laughable. I honestly think that I dislike Hamonic more than I do James Neal. Just useless in two of his three seasons as a Flame but costs us a 1st and 2 2nds for that honor. And really he wasn't any good in Vancouver this year either, maybe he lived up to his contract for the Canucks but not an impactful player at all.

Yeah, not sure where he got the idea I was anti-tanev. I was a big booster at the time of the signing.

The claim in the discussion I saw was that Brown is a playmaker and he just needed a scorer like Mangiapane to show his value. I say Mangiapane was stirring the drink.

Certainly there's other places on the internet that you could discuss all things wonderful about the Canucks and fellate your fellow fans with rejoice over such major accomplishments as Travis Hamonic "living up to expectations." No?
What makes you think anyone cares about your opinion on a Flames board? It cracks me up.
